So i decided to barbell bench one time in 5 years and bam, the one thing i dont barbell bench for is this injury.

So i am getting it looked at and things made it hard to get an app. So i know its best when done most recent, but that choice was ruined. So i will be talking with someone who is recommended excellent.

I will be happy if i can just do pushup and machines at this point, and never touch a dumbell or barbell for chest again.

That is being able to still do back and legs away from the chest.

To be honest i am really nervous because as is, is not good. And i really am reading time frame matters alot. And its approaching further down. Its odd how this injury is rapid pace.

Anyone else ever do this?

So you never got an MRI to confirm the Injury and damage done?

It not ideal but it hasn’t been that long , I destroyed my arm , distal bicep tendon tore off took 6.5 weeks for surgey due to workers comp. First 2 years was a rough road but it’s more normal now and almost back to what it was , get the MRI and fix it.

I tore my tendon off plus tore the muscle belly now I got a 2.5” hole on my lower bicep.

With my shoulder, surgeon said had they waited another week or 2, the surgery would have been much more complicated due to the supraspinatus and infraspinatis being retracted back to the GH joint. Months later, he informed me that when he went in he wasn’t sure he could fix it. So, based on that info, had he waited, there’s no way he could’ve fixed it and I’d need cadaver tendons. So, all things are relative. The fact you still don’t have an MRI is certainly not in your favor, honestly, at the risk of not making you feel great, so, sorry about that, buddy.

I have the mri, i can only do this. I see him next week to talk, he sounds like he is amazing surgeon though.

Edit- so its either going to a no name surgeon, 1 week from now. Or the best surgeon in the state just about waiting an extra week.

Are you able to workout?

You are able to workout, solidly?

Ok, I didn’t see you post the results. Wouldn’t mind seeing it, if you can redact enough to ne comfortable posting it.
Not at the moment. I will once all is done, ill take a screen shot. I learned to not let others look at medical things of this sort because there opinions end up dictating my thoughts sometimes.

I learned this 2 weeks ago, i showed someone the report and what they said vs what doc said was not the same. And they stressed me out so badly.

So not offending you, i will do so once the procedure is done and i feel comfortable.

Edit- ill say this, it says the tendon is near the axilla which means its there as of today, yet the MRI was 2 days ago and surgery date is 2 weeks, consult is next week. So worried 2 weeks would change that.

But i dont have another option

You worked out after surgery?

And once fully healed movement was solid?
I wouldn’t give advice on what to do, I just like looking at MRI reports. I get what you’re saying, though. You need to be able to read these reports on your own to some degree as well. I never let anything some internet boob says affect what’s actually happening. Mostly back to normal, still no real external rotation, but, for the most part ok. I posted a pic over on the “who’s the most shredded” thread, you can see no real imbalanced anymore. I don’t get under a barbell(that’s what did it) or dumbbells due to instability. Plate loaded machines serve their purpose for me.

Yep certain back exercises and bicep work will bother it some days but mine was a unqiue tear. I got 20” bicep on that side again , it shriveled up to 14” after surgery. My lower bicep is gone arm looks odd as fuck now haha.

After this injury I relized how quick you get the muscle back with relatively light work , muscle memory is awesome.

Keep both consults. Stress how important serious weight training is as a part of your life and happiness. Because surgical repair that is good enough for most people is not what you want. You want optimal for performance-oriented athlete. Be extremely honest and forthright about your expectations. Don't hold back.

I agree with @Bumpygooch - time is of the essence. Will one week make a difference. Ask the surgeon about prognoses.

I've had 2 AC surgeries, one each shoulder.

For the first, I listened to my GP who said it was barely a Grade 3 and told me I wouldn't need surgery because it looked fine, I could use and still move it relatively well, and I didn't complain about the pain.

Long story short, I did need surgery. 6 months (!) later, I saw a surgeon who chastisted me for not seeing him right away. (I had to wait 2months to get an appointment with - he later told me if I would have told the receptionist it was a semi-emergency I could have seen him immediately).

The surgeon used endobutton (tightrope) but my AC ligaments could not be recovered so he did ligamentoplasty using tendons take from my hamstring muscle (as an alternative to cadaver). I don't know if this is an option or even possible to use in late surgeries for this type of pec tear?

The second surgery (I got hit by a car while cycling) was better. The accident happened at 6pm. I literally called him from the scene at 7pm. He saw me at 9am. I was in the operating room ~24 hours later.

Repairing acute injuries are much easier, recover much faster, with better prognosis.

My first intervention was successful but the second one was as close to perfect as I could imagine and perhaps better than before.

So yeah, always address these type of injuries immediately and persistently.

I recently recovered from a bicep tear (tendon 90% torn off the bone, currently just over 12 weeks post op) and have spoken with a few docs lately, my neighbor is an orthopedic surgeon who recently performed a pec repair. Apparently pec tears off the bone are one of the more difficult surgeries to perform because the tendon length is incredibly short, vs something like a bicep. It essentially is muscle to bone (that’s an exaggeration, but not far from the truth) and time is very much of the essence when it comes to pec reattachement.

My neighbor told me the surgery he performed was about 8 weeks post injury and that it was a major pain in the ass. Luckily the doc is a younger guy so fighting with the muscle was probably easier than it would’ve been for an older surgeon.

If you’re still within the first 2 weeks post injury I think it’ll be “easy” but I wouldn’t wait any longer than that if I were you and would get the surgery done ASAP.

For me, since I didn’t have full detachment, I didn’t lift with it, but still used it almost like I would in everyday life without loading it up. Based on what the surgeon told me, I think it helped that I didn’t lock it into position with a sling and kept moving it and kept blood flow to it

I seriously almost put out an APB for you on this forum last night. Hadn’t seen you around and weeks and when I realized it I got a bit concerned about ya, ol boy.

bpc 157 has done wonders for healing my soft tissue. Goes to work fast too. Just something to consider.

Thank goodness becausr i lost size already not being able to exercise, as i am afraid to mess it up now.
