This section has really died down since the election.

Do you think she is qualified or deserves the position?

Also, there have been a few democrats bash her,but it seems like if this country was about to promote a woman to one of the highest positions of authority in this country, you would hear some "bravos" of support and accolades from the National Assoc. of Women's Rights, and NAACP.

Seems like a hypocrisey[spg?] for some women and minorities not to step up to home plate and help put it down in history to remember,in a positive way,and praise her.

Hillary Clinton even voted her in,and she's a hardcore democrat. Was she under the influence,or does she probably have a hidden agenda?

Anyway, just curious about some peeps opinions.

Yes, she is very much qualified for it. One concern I have is whether she will hold any weight in the anti-women countries of the Middle East.

They want blacks, hispanics, etc in power, but when those people do achieve positions of influence and power, they are considered "sell-outs" and Uncle Toms.

Over the next two years, she will have to present herself as more moderate, ala Bill, if she wants a chance at winning the White House. If she continues her ultra-lib policies, then she won't have a chance in hell of winning. Shes pandering, plain and simple.

Bob, you bring up a very good point. And what you stated about women in power having trouble dealing with third world dictators who view women as second rate citizens, is the exact reason why I think the USA is simply not ready for a female president. How can Billary go into a room with a Saudi prince, the whole time he is viewing her as the equivalent of a dog, and tell him how he needs to run his country????

Secondly, all the attacks on Condi, whom is more than qualified, is the democrats way of indirectly Bush yet again. This is not a protest of Condi, but rather a protest of Bush's policies in Iraq and the Middle East as a whole.

Finally, when a white male/female republican is up for a new job, the democrats say things like "he is an idiot, his judgements are poorly written, he is a religious zealot, he's in the pockets of the NRA, he's an evil traitor, he's a liar and a criminal". However, when a black male/republican is up for the job "he/she is not qualified" and the democrats leave it at that.

The democrats still play both sides against the middle. Old, rich, white men are criticized for not setting the republican on an inclusive path; however, when a rich white man such as Bush puts in place the most diverse cabinet that has ever existed, and his top adviser is a black woman.....he's an idiot who doesn't know what he's doing??????

...no shit. Yesterday, Billary gave a speech on abortion. For years she has been fully supportive of a womans right to choose and has fully supported roe v. wade. Well, yesterday she was saying things like "I respect the feelings of those who are guided by their faith.....and I understand why they are against abortion. I know how they feel". It was really pathetic.

Here is a transcript of her speech. I tried to post a link, but you have to register with the site to read it:

LBANY, Jan. 24 - Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton said on Monday that the opposing sides in the divisive debate over abortion should find "common ground" to prevent unwanted pregnancies and ultimately reduce abortions, which she called a "sad, even tragic choice to many, many women."

In a speech to about 1,000 abortion rights supporters near the New York State Capitol, Mrs. Clinton firmly restated her support for the Supreme Court's ruling in Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion nationwide in 1973. But then she quickly shifted gears, offering warm words to opponents of legalized abortion and praising the influence of "religious and moral values" on delaying teenage girls from becoming sexually active.

"There is an opportunity for people of good faith to find common ground in this debate - we should be able to agree that we want every child born in this country to be wanted, cherished and loved," Mrs. Clinton said.

Her speech came on the same day as the annual anti-abortion rally in Washington marking the Roe v. Wade anniversary. [Page A17.]

Mrs. Clinton's remarks were generally well received, though the audience was silent during most of her overtures to anti-abortion groups. Afterward, leaders of those groups were skeptical, given Mrs. Clinton's outspoken support for abortion rights over the years.

Mrs. Clinton, widely seen as a possible candidate for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination in 2008, appeared to be reaching out beyond traditional core Democrats who support abortion rights. She did so not by changing her political stands, but by underscoring her views in preventing unplanned pregnancies, promoting adoption, recognizing the influence of religion in abstinence and championing what she has long called "teenage celibacy."

She called on abortion rights advocates and anti-abortion campaigners to form a broad alliance to support sexual education - including abstinence counseling - family planning, and morning-after emergency contraception for victims of sexual assault as ways to reduce unintended pregnancies.

"We can all recognize that abortion in many ways represents a sad, even tragic choice to many, many women," Mrs. Clinton told the annual conference of the Family Planning Advocates of New York State. "The fact is that the best way to reduce the number of abortions is to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies in the first place."

Leading anti-abortion campaigners, in both New York and nationwide, pounced on Mrs. Clinton as a suspect spokeswoman for compromise and common ground.

"I think she's trying to adopt a values-oriented language, but it lacks substance, at least if you compare it to her record," said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council in Washington. "If you look at Senator Clinton's voting record on this issue, it's like Planned Parenthood's condoms - it's defective."

Mrs. Clinton's address came as the Democratic Party itself engages in its own re-examination of its handling of the issue in the wake of Senator John Kerry's loss in the presidential race.

Democratic senators such as Harry Reid of Nevada and Dianne Feinstein of California have also pressed for a greater focus on reducing unintended pregnancies, and some Democratic consultants have urged that party leaders mint new language to reach voters who identified moral values as a top issue for them in last November's election.

"Our focus in the speech was to make sure that she still communicated that she was pro-choice - she doesn't want to undermine that - but she also thinks we can have some common ground among all sides and make abortion rare," Neera Tanden, legislative director for Mrs. Clinton, said in a telephone interview.

Before the election, Mrs. Clinton was a visible and public defender of abortion rights, appearing at a huge rally in Washington last spring and denouncing what she called Republican efforts to demonize the abortion rights movement.

But like I said, we are not ready for a female president.....she's toast.

I dont think she is right for the job at all - as a matter of fact I think she is Bush's little suck ass and needs to have an original idea - whatever she does though it will be his idea first.

I cant believe so many who voted for her confirmation did so with reservations - that doesnt sound good at all

People in the President's cabinet are there to carry out the President's agenda.....not come up with new/original ideas and put in place their own agenda.

Other than being part of Bush's cabinet and being a "suck ass", what is it about her you don't like????

What up Deacon? How you doing big man?

Bob and Kayz, you guys drive home some obvious good points, it just blows me away how some organizations won't step up to home plate.

Funny, but these same Democrats never complained that Bill Clinton should have picked a SOS that disagreed with him. What nonsense.

And his SOS were totally worthless, BTW. Name ONE of their accomplishments. Just ONE.

Hold on a second. There's something wrong with her because she is both black and a republican? Oh no! You mean she believes in working for a living, not getting handouts, personal responsibility, etc. Damn, that's so completely unblack. She must be an Uncle Tom. And a terrible person.

As opposed to the hatemonger, race baiting clowns like Sharpton and Jackson that "preach" nothing but intolerance and racism? THEY, and those like them, are the ones that are truly keeping blacks down.

Personally, I think you dont like Condi because 1) shes black, and 2) she is 100x more intelligent than you are. You are threatened by the fact that a black person (woman, no less) is smarter and more successful than you will ever be. You just cant stand the idea that a black or hispanic or non-Aryan of any type has a higher social standing than you do.

Did you learn all of that at the Klan meeting last night???? ;)

Well, thats what the Grand Wizard said, so it must be true!

SC REdneck must live in WV, where Senator Robert "KKK" Byrd resides. :D

Condi is brilliant, no doubt about it. I've got tremendous respect for anyone who can come from such modest (read "dirt-ass poor") beginings and end up in one of the highest offices in the country.

It is pure hypocrisy that she doesn't get the respect that she deserves from the people who should love her most. She's affiliated with Bush, that's enough for most people to justify her demonization.

White males frequently complain about being marginalized with affirmative action, etc. There are much worse things to be than a white male. Could be a black republican. They're the most feared and hated people in this country.
