With some variation from state to state, you can generally say that if the syringes are intended to be used for the purpose of injecting illegal drugs, then they are considered "drug paraphernalia".

In some places, in order to charge you with a crime, LE would have to demonstrate that you intended to use the syringes to inject illegal drugs. Were you also in possession of injectable illegal drugs? Was there any residue of illegal drugs near the syringes? Etc.

In other places, simply being in possession of syringes (without a valid prescription for a legitimate injectable drug, such as insulin) is considered evidence that you intended to use the syringes to inject illegal drugs.

So, is it illegal to possess syringes in the US? Depending on the circumstances, yes. It is possession of "drug paraphernalia", which is a crime.

Your likelihood of being charged with a crime depends on the circumstances (were the syringes found with illegal drugs?) and the state (some states are more strict than others; specific laws vary from place to place).

What I highly recommend you do is look up NEEDLE EXCHANGES in your area- most big cities have them now. Most carry standard 3cc IM syringes of either 25g 1in needle or 23g 1.5in needle. Huge guys might want the longer needle, but smaller builds or especially for starting a course first time you probably want the smaller needle. Insulin syringes are also at exchanges in a few different sizes, though I doubt most people here need to worry with those.

You can also buy them online; laws do vary state to state but usually there isn't much problem buying them from medical websites. I can't remember the name of the website that is a pretty good one, if I find it I'll post it for you. But look up the exchanges because it's all free, also alcohol pads all free! You're only stuck if you need a 5cc or 10cc syringe or something.

IF you are talking about syringes, I just walk into my Walgreens and buy whatever I need. Then again, I have legal script for Test, so I can buy anything. I would find a large animal supply house somewhere out in the country where you live. They always have syringes and never ask ?s.

So true and so pathetic. Rather than treating illegal drug use as a medical issue, pharmacies, doctors, the law in the US treat it as a moral/legal issue.

No one needs a needle longer than 1.5" unless they are morbidly obese. Actually if you have more muscle, and are lean, you can use a shorter needle as there's less fat to go through.
