Switching from Tirzepatide (15mg) to Retatrutide ?

Hello everyone,

I was on Semaglutide last year , I’m currently on 15 mg weekly for 2 months tirzepatide (Moun-jaro) and I’m considering switching to retatrutide because I am not losing weight anymore.

For those who have made a similar change, could you please share what starting dose you used ?
Should I go for Cagrilintide ?

165cm
June 2024: 120kg
Now: 90kg

Thank you in advance for any insights :)

Funny you mention that. I just recently came across the patents showing Eli had (or maybe still does) planned for Tirz doses up to 25mg.
Yeah, I was reading about that study where they used dosages up to 25mg.I am not fan of switching from tirz to reta, especially coming from high dose of tirz. In this case,i would up the dose of tirz, take a good look at diet and increase cardio.

Why don’t you recommend switching from Tirz to Reta? I'm asking because Eli doesn’t sell doses higher than 15 mg. To be honest, I just lost my job, recently found out I have knee osteoarthritis, and I’m waiting for my antidepressant to start working... I'm waiting to heal my knees before doing the sports I like again...

I prefer a lower doser of a more effective alternative product TBH
I've not seen any results for evaluation of Tirzepatide upper than 15mg also

Try Sema then. Max dose 2.4mg,

Far lower dosage for similar effect.

7.2mg sema already finished trials too, still much lower effective dose than Reta or Tirz.

I was on Sema 2.4mg but at the end it was very slow: August 2023 to March 2025 I think I've lost 3 or 4kg max...

Because tirz is stronger appetite suppressor, you will probably feel like you are injecting water until 8-10 mg reta.Yes, reta works even if you don't feel appetite suppression but you will probably gain some weight back until you reach high dose of reta. And anecdotally, tirz is better at inflammation control and is being used by some people to help with arthritis.Issue that you have right now is probably your activity levels, training less and moving less because of knee arthritis. When you fix this, you will start losing weight again.Disregard my comment about upping dose. Not necessary until training and diet is sorted.

Still haven't seen anything on training / diet status - need to know that before making any changes to compounds. As incredible as these compounds are, they are not magic (but very close to it). You still need a calorie deficits to lose weight. That can be achieved with dietary restriction, increased activity, or both. Pls give us some more info so we can help. Saying that I'm not losing weight anymore really gives us nothing to go on.

I trained a lot this summer (hypomania). I did a lot of high-impact sports (running, soccer, basketball) considering my weight, and that’s not recommended... That’s how I explain it.
Honestly, the obesity throughout these years also explains it.
I prioritized the pleasure of doing sports over my health, to be honest.

Feel free not to answer this if you prefer not to, but you mentioned hypomania. Are you diagnosed with bipolar disorder? Was your obesity a result of long-term use of antipsychotic medications?

There's nothing here about your caloric intake or activity level. What am I missing?

I’m only mentioning this because of your preference for lower doses. From what I’ve learned, you’re better off, with more health benefits, from using the *highest* dose of Tirz you can tolerate without too much appetite suppression or weight loss.

Ok - we're trying to help you but you have not given us any information about what you are eating, daily caloric intake, some idea of bodyfat percentage, etc. It's really hard / impossible to help without that information.

One thing to consider, even with GLP-1's on board (this is less common with reta due to glucagon agonism), metabolic adaptation will always prevail at some point. This means that if you just eat less due to the appetite suppression at some point your metabolism will slow down and your BMR / TDEE will commensurately drop. Eating adequate protein and doing resistance training will stave this off for as long as possible, but it's still a thing.

So, it would be helpful for us to know how much you were eating (daily calories) when you started your journey, what you are eating now, what is your daily step count, how many days per week do you lift weights (if at all)?
