I was just told by my doc that I would have to go on Lipitor for my cholesterol. Has anyone here been on Lipitor or any of the other cholesterol lowering drugs, and has it effected your training? I know I will have to be carefull with my liver function now especially.
Any info is grately appriciated.
Thanks

If possible don't use it! Shit has some nasty sides and can affect more than your liver! Try taking fish oil instead. This will raise your HDL which will then scrub the LDL out. Also, make sure you get plenty of soluble fiber. Also, Niacin works to reduce LDL as well as increase HDL.

If you do have to take it then make sure you get ~100mg of CoQ-10 as statins reduce this in the body. Even if you are on the statin it can't hurt to take the fish oil. SWALE, on this board, recommends 10g of fish oil per day.

As far as training, statins have shown some capacity to cause muscle soreness. I got it bad unless I drank 1.5 gallons of water a day. Any less than that and I was sore as hell...one point I could barely move my legs it was so damn bad. Other than that it didn't affect my training.

I got off of that shit as fast as I could...I only took it because my chol was up due to Accutane. Now that I'm off of one I got off of the other.

Good luck to ya bro!

Absolutely had the worst experience with Lipitor. Caused some nerve damage in my left leg. Doctor at first thought I just had a pinch nerve because numbness first was experienced in my toes then it eventual went all the way up my left leg until it affected the way I walked. I asked members on other boards and I was given this suggesiong on how to control your cholesterol.

Take Garlic/Policosanol/Sesathing. I was just giving this proposed combination and I will give it a try. I have read some good reviews from members on other boards that have high cholesterol and are cycling(cycling as you know is not good for your cholestrol levels). Here is a link to read up on the product policosanol and research that was done with this supplement. It is a supplement and it works with no reported side effects
