But without a flow hood doesn't this open up to contamination? I'm probably misunderstanding what's actually happening.

It was explained earlier in the thread. The stopper is never removed, so sterility is maintained.

And he bought an expensive decrimper to be able to do this, which I appreciate.

I imagine it’s two things… 1, to add a cap, and 2, filling from the side prevents the piercing from being exposed.

This is my guess. I looked into it, and I don't think it yields any greater sterility or longevity of the product by doing this. Appears to be purely cosmetic. But I'm no expert, that's why I asked.

A 3 dollar bottle opener works... Lol... It won't remove the rubber stopper

As you lift the metal can. Apply counter pressure through the hole on the cap and onto the stopper with the needle cap
