sleeping and gains

Hi all,

Do you feel differences in gains in terms of sleeping 4-6 hours to sleep 8-10 hours?

Starting from the basis that you train with great intensity anyway and your diet is ok.

I saw in an interview that many pro bodybuilders sleep just 4 hours per day when on season because of the stress of training and diet, the drugs, the pressure ...

I try to get 7-8 hours every night just because I feel like shit if I get less than seven. Usually can't sleep 9 hours unless I'm super exhausted.

Like most things...highly individual. If your daily hustle isn’t impeded by lack of sleep at 4hrs then (even if it isn’t truly optimal) you’ll probably grow fine. If you know you feel like dick on 4hrs...that’s going to slow you down for sure.

"Gains" are always hard to quantify per-se from sleep as it's a piece of the puzzle. There are too many other physiological, supplemental, nutritional pieces that can also account for muscle growth. I can tell you with more sleep I am more recovered and can push harder the next day. So in that frame of reference do I feel it helps in the overall effort? Yes absolutely.
