Not sure of the cause yet, but it seems he's passed. Not very long after swearing off PED's in the wake of his father's passing fun prostrate cancer.

He did for a time, and then began reintroducing them to get his size back.

He just posted 18hrs and 9hrs ago...

not sure what you're trying to say here... would death make more sense if his social media was active more or less hours ago?

It seemed like he was being modest with the reintroduction of gear but I didn't follow him close enough to take notice. I liked his candor though.

His wife just posted.

It appears to be complications of a pneumonia like sickness with a possible mass on his lung contributing. He hadn’t gotten results of CT/chest X-rays taken just before his passing.

Sorry, I meant that in the sense that it seems so sudden and I can't imagine what it was, that he was just posting recently

Man, he had an infant boy. Sad

His most recent vid with French Dave he seemed to be really pushing the having health insurance and getting bloods and ALWAYS knowing what’s going on with your heart, kidneys etc.. even more than he had been in that one. I hate that all I’m thinking is some things are inevitable.

The Porters are in my prayers for sure

I was first introduced to Porter more than a decade ago. At that time, he was promoting a supplement website for which I wrote a few articles. The name escapes me now, but is known by many here at Meso. His use of AAS, etc. is well known.

Matt Porter is the Oregon-born bodybuilder who died on May 30 at the age of 34. Porter’s cause of death is listed as heart failure. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Prince-Porter and his young son, Noah.

Porter’s wife announced the passing of her husband in a lengthy Facebook post on May 30. Rachel wrote that since competing at the Emerald Cup at the beginning of May, Porter had not been feeling well. Rachel said that her husband had visited doctors on multiple occasions as he feared he had contracted pneumonia. Doctors told Porter that he just had a bad cold. How did they get to cause of death in under 24hrs...?

He had diagnosed heart issues, treated successfully per his wife but then jumped back into the lifestyle. He was gradual about it, did a lot of testing and went as slow and as safely as one could. I can't help but feel that was certainly a contributing factor though. CHF can get bad really fast under certain circumstances and he was getting heavy again.

I will point out that Dallas McCarver also was "sick" with respiratory issues just prior to his death. Respiratory issues can also be a sign of congestive heart failure due to the fluid build up in your system.

Sad news regardless. I don't think anyone would be surprised to hear it was heart related when they have the official COD.

The body-weight aspect is not to be overlooked here, he got to a fairly high body-weight recently if I remember correctly.

Incredibly sad news however, I was honestly shocked when I had heard about it. Especially with how diligent he was with monitoring health markers and taking a genuine effort in mitigating damage from his experiments, safe to say he was going beyond what the vast majority of recreational AAS users would do for the purpose of staying healthy.

Someone doing things that way you would seriously hope they can have some serious longevity in the sport, so it was especially shocking to hear about his passing. Heartbreaking when you consider he is leaving behind a young family and the experience his wife had to go through as well.

What upsets me even more is it sounds like he knew something was wrong in the weeks prior to his passing and may have been brushed off by the doc - the fact that his BP was brushed off in the past is beyond upsetting as well. I believe his wife mentioned the uncontrolled htn was the cause of the heart failure and his docs knew he had BP issues in the past. Either way, I'm not a doctor but someone who had been dx'd with heart failure shouldn't have been brushed off as just having a cold.

RIP
