Retards in schools

What do you think about this? Good? Bad?

While I can appreciate the desire not to hurt their feelings and make them feel like they're total outsides, I also don't think that is the purpose of schools. Feelings are irrelevant, contemporary opinion be damned. Schoolin' is for the learnin' and that's it. Seems to me that the presence of "mentally challenged" people in normal people classes is detrimental to the learning process.

What do you think?

I disagree. School is about more than just learning. IMO, school is more about learning how to interact with others and deal with adversity. My aunt works with disabled kids (as Bob would say...the type that wear helmets) and she's told me stories of how they are able to express emotions and feelings once they get used to their surroundings. It does them good to receive a little mental stimulation in a foreign environment when there not in the comfort of their own home or harness.

Besides, I don't know of too many schools in which retards are in the same classroom as "normal" kids.

Plus, I'd rather spend my tax money on helping a mentally disabled kid who was dealt a bad hand than some fucking wanna be gangbanger who thinks it's cool to be an asshole and smart off to teachers.

Jewels kids are in the regular classroom since they are mainly a little behind the rest of the class in terms of progress (level 1 kids, they arent tards). They go see her for 15-60 minutes a day to work on whatever area they are struggling in (math or reading, etc). The kids at her school that are classified as level 2 or 3 (helmet types and biters) are much more severe and are usually in their own SpEd classroom, not with the "normal" kids. I agree that kids with that severe of learning disability should be in their own area; they are usually taught basic life skills like how to eat and how to use a fork. But the kids with minor disabilities or behavior issues should definitely be in the regular classroom.

You're right. They usually don't put them in classrooms. However, in HS, they always put the "high-functioning retards" in regular gym classes. Still not the best idea, if you ask me.

As far as behavior disorders, I say most certainly not. Not until teachers are again allowed to punch unruly students in the mouth because they are certainly distractions to learning.

My biggest complaint is that (at least in my schools) the tard-monkeys ate lunch with us normal folk....and it was disgusting.

I'd be eating my fucking turkey sandwich and I'd look over to see Lucas (king tard) with half his hand in his mouth slobbering all over the place. He'd have fucking Capri Sun running down his chin, and then he'd look at me and go...

DDDrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:D

I understand the food thing, I dont like watching most people eat. But I feel bad for them, its not their fault that they cant function and be "normal" like the rest of us.

Oh I know...I feel bad for them too, but I can't help but be grossed out. Nobody should have to deal with that type of life and I do feel for them.

After hearing about one of Jewel's students from last year, I really do feel bad for these kids. This kid was very creative, had an incredible imagination, but couldnt focus for more than a few minutes. His mom was on crack or some other hard drug the entire time she was pregnant. Its not his fault his like that. :(

Agreed. And while my decision might be different in the moment, I'm of the pursuasion that, should an ultrasound detect retardation(or whichever test does that) during the pregnancy, it would be aborted.

My aunt works at a public school, but she deals with the severely handicapped kids. She tells me stories about them sometimes. She says that most of them are really good kids and they have a really good time. They play lots of games to stimulate some sort of physical and emotional response.

I have to tell you one story though because it is funny. My aunt said that when it happened, nobody could keep from laughing.

One of her kids was born without eyes and has some other mental ailments. The kid has a glass eye in each socket so that there is something there to look at so to speak. Anyways, my aunt said that he got laughing really hard one day and he starting bobbing his head up and down....and one of his eyes shot out of the socket and went bouncing across the room.:D

I know it's mean to laugh, but I can't help it. My aunt said that when it happened, even he started laughing even harder.:D

If an ultrasound or an amniocentesis shows that the child will be severely handicapped (either mentally or physically), and that he/she will not be able to ever live a functional life, then i would support an abortion in that instance.

If the retardation is due to the mother smoking crack or drinking while pregnant, then she would be sterilized and thrown in jail following the abortion.

You guys will love www.tard-blog.com

I found it a year or two ago. Its written by a SpEd teacher about her students. Jewel thought it was hilarious because you have to be able to laugh in this situations or else all youll do is cry and then quit. The stories are a riot!

That is the greatest fucking web-site I've ever seen. I know what I'll be reading tonight. It will make me feel really smart and happy.

The link I posted doesnt get through the firewall at my company. Something about "tasteless" sites being blocked. :D

Good thing there is a mirror site that I can access. :D

I can agree. Negligence? Attempted manslaughter? Some sort of charge like that, I guess. Hell, when I'm Emperor, it will be crime to be stupid and she'd get thrown in jail for that. ;)

One would imagine that it would be illegal already, but, somehow, it's not I guess. Why don't they charge "crack moms" with something?

And the first motherfucker who says it's a disease and they need treatment, not condemnation, is getting my fist in their brown eye....lubeless.
