Reta

Hey everyone,
I’ve been on Retatrutide and had a weird experience I can’t quite figure out. I was taking 2 mg for about 6 weeks with no major issues, but during week 7 I suddenly got really sick with bad diarrhea, vomiting, GERD, and abdominal pain that lasted a couple of days.

At first, I didn’t think it was the Retatrutide since I’d already been on it for a while, so I went ahead and did my 8th dose like normal. A few days later, the same symptoms hit again. After that I stopped taking it completely. It’s been about 4 weeks since then, and earlier this week I tried just 1 mg to see how I’d tolerate it, and sure enough, yesterday the vomiting and diarrhea came back.

Has anyone else gone through something similar? I’m curious if switching to Tirzepatide helped anyone who had these kinds of issues. I really miss how GLP-1s made me feel overall, but my stomach just can’t seem to handle Retatrutide anymore.

Would love to hear if anyone’s had a similar reaction or found a better-tolerated alternative. Thanks in advance for any insight

So, ive been on sema and tirz in the past. With both of them, as i got to the higher titrations, I began getting harsh gi side effects for days like nausea, painful bloating, diarrhea, stomach pain. I wasn't eating badly, but I may have found some associations with foods and shakes. Nevertheless, as the gi effects got bad, I backed off those glps. I started tirz again for a month a few months ago, with the intention of just staying on lower to mid titrations, but then moved to reta before I began month 2.

On reta, I am now on 8mg for my second week. Within 24 hours of my weekly dose, I notice more bloating than normal but nothing that some gasx can't help.

Seeing that you had no reactions for 6 weeks, then suddenly are reacting so strongly. I imagine either you are having a negative reaction to the reta, maybe allergic. Or, I wonder if your reta has gone bad?

Could your share any more info on your reconstitution?
if you were using the same vial the whole time?
Was the reta all from the same supplier batch?
Did you get the reta tested independently?

so initially i got my first 2 vials from resarchem and aiopeptides respectfully. then towards the end of the aio peptides is when i got the first reaction. then my order from ssa came in and then i got the reactions again. i tried reconstituting with 1 ml of bac and 2 ml of bac. no i didnt get the reta tested.

So, if you're getting the same issue with reta from various vendors, then my simpleton brain leans towards thinking:

1. The BAC might be bad
2. Your reconst method may have some sterilization issues
3. Contamination happening on injection
4. You are eating something regularly that effs with your body when on Reta now.
5. Your body no longer likes the idea of reta.

Some alternative thinking:

- I'm not a fast of split or micro-dosing. It's just not a priority for me right now. But there are many anecdotal reports of that helping people a lot with a reduction in sides. Maybe do 2mg over 3 or 4 days in the week? I like the idea of 2 or 4 days so it's an easy volume/units/mLs to measure for your mg splits.

- Are you eating or drinking anything in particular that could be messing with you on the GLPs? Even things that didn't effect you before and that may be considered as good for you or healthy? One thing that killed me on Tirz, but has not been a problem for me on Reta, is Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard Whey. Oddly, that stuff put me on a toilet for days while on tirz at 7.5mg/week or higher, but I've used the same whey protein on and off since my late high school/college days without issues. Anyways, just some thoughts.

Testing

Don't know where you're located. But, i know testing is expensive for most, but if you're in the USA then you can send in a sample for free to Finnrick. It might be a good way to do a comparison analysis with any COA you get from a vendor. I can say that I recently acquired 60mg Reta kits from SSA and they tested very well in my 3P testing. Not sure if my case is a one-off success for SSA, YMMV, but just a datapoint to share.

1. its been 5 months since i got it and its been at room temp idk if thats fine. 2. idk if it is tbh cause i wash my hands then use alohol pads to wipe the tops of both the vials and use a new alocohol pad for injection site.
4. the only thing i can think of is possibly milk. only because my most recent episode i drank a glass of milk but i cant recall any diary consumption from the other episodes

I am located in the US and ill look into Finnrick and see if my reta is any good.

Thanks for the help.

Do you leave the milk at room temp for extended periods too? It’s also a liquid protein like reconstituted peptides, so that may be the source of your issue.

1. BAC water doesn't necessarily have any issues stored at room temp. But, it may argue that BAC water sitting for 5 months at room temp may need to be replaced. I tend to keep my BAC in the fridge once its been opened, but I go through the normal 30mL Hospira BAC in 1-2 months. Given you've had some potentially bad reactions GI reactions to your last vials, I wouldn't rule out contamination of the BAC. But, you could probably rule this out if you have used the same BAC for other peptides and not had any negative issues/reactions.
2 & 3. Sounds like you're good there.
4. Could be dairy related, but seems less likely because of your not about not having dairy with the other episodes.

My take:
Replace the BAC water.
Test whatever Reta batch you're going to use. Finnrick is a good option if you're able to lose out on a vial.
Cross fingers the reta doesn't cause major issues again.
Consider going to some micro/split dosing even more. Maybe go to 1 or 1.5 mg/week split over 3 or 4 days if you're not opposed to the pins.

Your symptoms definitely fit into GLP1 side effects. but it's weird that it kicked up so many weeks after you started. I'm not sure if Tirz will be any better as it is a strong GLP1 agonist, but you could always try to transition to see if you react differently.

Take into note that everybody reacts differently to this stuff. I personally could not handle Tirz/Sema well as I began getting GI issues as I titrated up. But my siblings, also on Tirz, never felt a side effect and have continued to use the 15mg/week titration without any issues for over a year.

Lots of sources out there if you do some dd. Also if you take a look at finnrick, you'll see options listed there.
