Repatha

Hello MESO folk!

Currently running Pita 4mg, Bempedoic Acid 180mg, Ezetemibe 10mg, and a surplus of supplements. Levels are good but hey I’d love to lower them even lower because why not.

I have good insurance, and I’m curious about getting on Repatha, seems I’ll need prior authorization or I assume so.

For those of you who have had it prescribed, how did you go about it? I imagine I’d have to pull some bloodwork with elevated cholesterol and "fake" statin intolerance?

Thank you for the input :)

It’s gotten quite a bit easier in the last few years since Amgen offered insurance companies discounts from the $7200 / yr price if they made qualifying easier.

(Also, if you have a heart attack, Amgen will refund the insurer 100% of what they paid for Repatha lol)

Was your statin (or any lipid drug) prescribed?
What was your untreated LDL number?

No heart attacks on my end (thank goodness)

I got all of my things through PCT, so nothing on file.

Before I took some lifestyle changes and hopped on, I did bloodwork through labcorp and my LDL was 123, LipoA was 8.4 and ApoB was 90.

Atm on cycle LDL is sitting in the 70’s and ApoB was in the 70’s too? I’d have to double check on the ApoB.

I am currently in the process of trying to get repatha filled

The path to repatha may be creating a history of failed hyperlipidemia treatment with your physician.

Getting your Dr. to prescribe it is one thing. Getting your insurance to approve coverage is another.

I was first on a path to try and get pitvastatin. My insurance required me to try other statins first. I told my Dr. I was not able to tolerate each one. They wrote a script for pitvastatin, insurance required a PA

While that was being sorted out, I went for a blood draw for lipid panel and a few other biomarkers that my cardiologist wanted every 3 months.

My creatine kinease came back elevated at 773. I attributed this to high physical activity over the weekend. My Dr. didn't like seeing that number, called and told me to stop taking a statin and that he was going to prescribe repatha. I didn't correct him that the number was likely elevated from my weekend activities.

So instead of completing the PA for pitvastatin, he is working on the PA for repatha

My insurance required proof of failed treatment with other medications across the past 90 days. He sent my history of not being able to tolerate 3 other statins without muscle pain, and my lab work showing elevated CK.

Waiting for insurance response now.

Hope this gives you an idea of how to plan a road forward to repatha

That is quite the path. Thanks for the insight!

What I personally did to get all the prescriptions that I need is mess my lipids on purpose
Now I get everything dirt cheap
Currently running
10mg eze
10mg rosu
180mg Bemp

Hdl 56
LDL 32
Tri 15
Total under 90

If I run harsh compounds only hdl drops to low 36ish nothing else really moves

I received my prescription only when my ldl was around 480 lol.. I remember I ran dbol tren masteron gh and npp on a high fat diet and it did the job

So just gotta get my ldl into the 300-400’s LOL. Sounds like a plan. Were you running anything or nothing to intentionally get the script?
