Quality and price of food

This is one of the many reasons I have decided to homestead and become self reliant. I have several acres. Chickens, goats, sheep, bees, an orchard and seasonal crop growth.

Going to be raising quail for meat birds next year. They are supposedly easy. And delicious. My chickens are just for eggs. Might add ducks next year too. Not sure if I’m ready for them, though. They would be strictly for eggs too.

It’s a lot of work but I actually kinda enjoy the labor. It’s game changing when you eat what you personally killed or grew. Doesn’t get any fresher or healthier. And far cheaper in the long run although it’s pricey to have land and get everything setup.
The feed gets expensive when you end up with too many birds unless you’re able to buy in bulk.
