Push/pull meet prep

Weight today was 203.8

Workout was,

1x4 squats @ 425lbs
4x4 paused bench @ 315lbs
3x8 leg extensions
4x15 calf raises

Figured I would give regular back squats a shot... horrible idea. My elbow flared up really bad. I ended up barely even being able to push through my bench sets. Front squats from now on it is. Lol

Weight today was, 203.2

Workout was,

4x3 deadlifts @ 495lbs
3x12 lat pulldowns
3x12 seated rows
3x12 lateral raises
4x12 preacher curls
8x15 db curls
8x15 triceps pushdowns

Everything went pretty good today. The deadlifts all came up pretty easy. I have an amrap of 495 lined up for next week, im really hoping to hot 8 reps. That should theoretically put me around the low 600's. I had a bit of elbow pain during curls, but nothing bad.

Weight today was 202.6

Workout was,

4x3 beltless paused front squats @ 295lbs
4x3 paused bench @ 320lbs
4x15 leg extensions
4x8 calf raises
4x15 calf raises

Elbow felt fine through the bench. All my reps came up pretty smooth too. Even on the last set I think I could be done at least 5, MAYBE 6.

Haven't posted any workouts the last couple days because I tweaked my back a bit on Monday. I was doing a 5x5 of front squats, 5x5 of bench, and a 5x5 of deadlifts. On the very last rep of the very last set my grip wasn't the greatest so I did a complete reset and them ripped on the weight without thinking much. Only got it an inch off the ground before I felt it. Ha. So I'm out of commission the rest of the week. Hopefully I'll still be able to deadlift at the meet in 4 weeks.

Have you tried widening our your grip on back squats? This will help a lot.

Or, for another option, another bar like a cambered bar or SSB

Yeah. I tried it, and it didn't hurt during the set, but afterwards it got really bad. I think it's because the tendons were already inflamed, maybe if I gave them some time to recover it would work. I actually specifically did a wider grip with my elbows pinned back, and 3 fingers over, 2 under the bar with the wrists pinned back.

I wanted to try a ssb, but we don't have one at the gym I go to.

Keep trying the wider grip. It could take some time to notice the difference but it helps IME.

I think I am after I recover. I just linked my back on Monday. So I'm on the sidelines at the moment. After I'm back to 100% I'm going to give them a shot again with the wider grip and wrists pinned back.

Weight today was, 200.2

Workout was,

5x5 paused bench @ 285lbs

Finally got back in the gym and did some bench. I figured I would bump the weight down a tad since I couldn't get my setup very tight. Overall, it felt good to be back.
Damn man. Those are nice lifts for 200 lbs. I’m trying my hardest to cut down now but food is my enemy lol those are actually just nice lifts for any weight lol

Ha. Thanks. Luckily for me, I'm not s big food person so cutting isn't hard for me, but I do very greatly hate the feeling of getting smaller which I think sucks just as much for cutting. Lol.

I was hoping to put up a 405 bench, and 600+ deadlift at the meet coming up, but with my back injury, I'm not sure if I'll be ready for the deadlift. Still going to give it a rip anyways and hope for the best. Haha

Weight yesterday was 202.4

Workout was,

3x8 paused bench @ 265lbs
3x8 lat pulldowns

This was originally the stary of my planned peaking. Since I'm not quite 100% comfortable deadlifting yet, I just substituted them with lat pulldowns

Pumped for some deadlifts tonight. Still going to keep it light, but going to at least work up to a top set of 4 @405lbs.

Also can't wait until this competition is done.. Lol. I already have a cycle laid out. Ha

Weight tonight was 198.2

Workout was,

3x4 paused bench @ 305lbs
1x4 deadlifts @ 425lbs

Pretty happy with bench and deads. Moved both of them like an empty bar, and didn't have any lower back pain. Even held the bar on my chest for a 3 count on bench and really focused on exploding up.

Weight today was 202.0

Workout was,

3x1 paused bench @ 340lbs
1x1 deadlifts @ 495lbs

I feel pretty good about the bench. I did a 3 count pause and still managed to get all the reps pretty smooth.

Deadlift came up a little slower than I would've liked, but I'm guessing I did rush the warmups since I was just doing a quick single, so I probably wasn't really in the groove
