Push/pull meet prep

I saw your quad in the other thread. You’re too ripped and muscular to be a fat power lifter but too sexy to be a gay bodybuilder. Looking good man and pushing some serious weights. Can’t wait to see your results on the platform.

Haha. Yeah, I don't have 20" arms and a 6 pack like @Perrin Aybara. But I wouldn't quite consider myself fat.

I am pretty pumped for the results. I think it all comes down to the deadlift. I really want to hit 600+ but I don't know how well it'll hold up after I strained it a couple weeks ago. It's fine lifting in the 4s, but a 600+ grinder rep is definitely a different story

No, it's three Saturdays from now. I think I'm going to still push it a bit next week with my lifts. When I do my singles I'm hoping to hit a few sets of 345 on the bench with a good 2-3 second pause. And some singles of 535 woth the deadlift. If those go up good, I'll feel pretty good about my lifts. Hoping for 390 on bench and 610 on deadlift. That way I can say I joined the 1,000lbs club with just my bench and dead. Lol
 
Weight today was, 200.4

Workout today was,

4x4 paused bench @ 310lbs
2x4 deadlifts @ 440lbs

All the reps went up nice and smooth. So that's nice. Deadlift is basically pain free now. I'm doing singles tomorrow, I think I'm going to keep it light again for those and probably just do 495. Next week I think I'm going to base my percentages off the full 610lbs that I'm hoping to hit.

4x1 paused bench @ 345lbs
2x1 deadlifts @ 505lbs

Once again, all the reps came up pretty smooth. Really happy about the bench. All 4 sets went really smooth, no slowing down as I went. Definitely feel like I have 380 in the bag, so 390 might not be that much of a long shot. I'll have to see how deadlifts feel next week. I'm finishing the week off with a few singles of 545. If those come up pretty smooth and I don't miss any reps in my volume work, I'll feel good about the 610 at competition
 
I have a good feeling about this year. Should hit some big Prs. Hoping to go after the state records I planned on beating a couple years ago and never did. Also just got an accepted offer on my second investment property for the year and already have my eye on another one. I'm helping the girlfriend start up a salon too. Seems like this could potentially be a year I remember for awhile.

Workout was,

5x4 paused bench @ 320lbs
3x4 deadlifts @ 495lbs

Bench went great. The last two sets I even did 3 second pauses and still threw the weight up smooth. Deadlifts were a little rough feeling, but they all came up smooth. Just felt fucking heavy.... but I guess it is basically 500lbs off the floor, isn't anything light about that
 
I miss just casually doing sets and reps with 315+ on bench. It's coming back so slow for me, 335x2 today was fairly hard.

If I recall correctly, I believe at one point you did 405 for a single? After you get your issues worked out, I'm sure you'll be right back up there in no time. Until then, just keep working on smoking that 700 deadlift. That's more cool than a heavy bench anyways. Ha

Yeah, 405x1 right around a year ago. Deadlift is definitely cooler, still miss benching heavy though.

Looks like your prep is going pretty well. You may still pull 600+.

I hope I hit a 405 bench here soon. I think after the meet I might try it in the gym. I think I have a good 385 at comp, but not 405. I have some 535lbs singles tomorrow of deads. Depending on how those feel I'll know if I'm going for a big pr, or just doing enough to win. Haha.

That’s how I feel about this year. I’m hitting big PR for me. I wanted 405 bench, 500 squat, and 600 deadlift last year. Well I’m about 40-50lbs off each one and i want it this year

I finally just hit a legit 5 plate squat a couple months ago. That was pretty rough coming up from the bottom. Lol. Thinking after the competition while I'm still prepped for a 1rm, I'm definitely going to try 405 in the gym touch and go. Lol. Unfortunately, if I don't get the 600 deadlift at this meet, I don't think I'm going to try to make a run at it again anytime soon. I've strained my back twice now over doing it on deads, and unless I planned on going to ipf worlds, it's not really worth it to me anymore. Lol. So basically just chasing bench prs after this. Ha

1x1 paused bench @ 375lbs
2x1 deadlifts @ 545lbs

Pretty happy with these lifts. Was going to settle for sets at 360, but it was just too light for my last heavy bench day. Lol. So I decided to do a good rep of 375. It came up pretty smooth. Definitely built my confidence up going into deadlifts. Smoked a couple reps @ 545lbs. I have a good feeling about competition, I feel the numbers I want are definitely there
 
Meet day today, weigh ins in an hour. Should be coming in at about 200. Feeling really good. I've done a couple really light sessions in the gym this week. Did a single of 495 on the deadlift Wednesday. You would've sworn the bar was empty. Also did a triple of 315 with 2 second pauses, came up like nothing.

So I think my prs for the day might as well be 405 and 605. I was going to save the 405 for the gym, but I'm just going to go for it today. Maybe it will give me the extra motivation to hit it with a bunch of people watching compared to an empty gyn. Lol

Well the results are in, I was way under weight, so I hydrated quite a bit before weigh ins and ate a huge breakfast and still came in at 203lbs. I ended up tying for first in bench, and got first in deadlift. I ended up placing 2nd overall though. A guy came in at 211lbs and hit a 450 bench, just barely missed 470, and hit a 600 deadlift, he had 635 but lost it an inch before lockout
