Whats everyone's daily protein intake? I try and get in 400g a day. Whether it's too much or not I like to be safe, especially on cycle.

Personally I think everyone takes a bit much on the ol protein 1g per LB is plenty in my expeirence and readings yes maybe slightly more on cycle. I weigh 187 and go for 180g usually more for on cycle bulking but I've never tried to go above 220g sometimes I do but never trying to.
Ok well there was a study done on test e like 500-600mg and the participants gained 18 pounds of muscle in like 20 weeks on about 1g/kg bw. There are some benefits to higher protein, but extra muscle isn't one of them. Bodybuilders seem to be the only ones who keep this myth up. Most coaches have their athletes on what is proven to be what's needed. Over 1g/lb some is defiantly being converted to glucose. There was a study done and many use it to show that 1g/lb bw is adequate. Only one major issue with that study...
The participants in the study weren't using AAS!
Like brutus I'm 280. Well was. Currently shrinking
2g/lb bw puts me at 560g of protein per day
AM I going to do that? Hell no
I've tried all the combinations. All of em. What have I found 400 - 450g a day is what I prefer on cycle. It's based on nothing just like every one else's opinion.
Off cycle, 300g tops. Again based on the study showing participants not using AAS which is basically what I am on a low cruise is to be determined adequate.
Now the better question,
How much protein is being UTILIZED![]()

I suggest reading that study over again. They did not gain 18lbs of muscle in 20wks. Fat free mass is not the same thing as skeletal muscle tissue.
Still the point is valid. Most of the muscle you have is just water and fluid. I'm not sure on how much is actually tissue but you sure aren't using even close to an extra 100g of protein to synthesize tissue. Pretty sure 1 pound of muscle weight is only like 220g of protein. Not sure on those numbers but you get the point. Don't get me wrong higher protein is good to supress appetite but after a point it can mess with digestion and you would prob be better off eating carbs instead of having your body convert the protein to carbs.I should also add protein intake was standardized at 1.2g/kg BW not 1g/kg
I'm more interested in how/why the extra protein consumed turns into glucose? That's a new one on me.
