Prison- how fucked up is it?

I've never been locked up, but I've seen posts on some of the boards about people doing some time. I see all these fucked up movies, and hear all of this horrible shit, but I don't really know anyone that has been in prison to tell me how real it all is. I watched a lot of that OZ on tv, scared the fuck out of me.

So what is it really like? is it really like the movies and tv?

it's pretty much what you make of it. if you have a half a brain it isn't to bad. just don't step on the wrong toes, mind your own business and do your time. t.v. is full of shit and oz is probably the worst example of them all. but then again i can only speak for the CA system. it would also depend on what level you were in. 1 being the easiest low security for short timers and 4 being the worst for high security violent offenders. as long as you aren't a baby raper or a straight out lame ass it's not to bad.

A friend I grew up with suddenly went off to Prison the other day for a long time, and he didn't tell me that he was going. I had to find out from his mom, who is not saying what he did, but it is really serious. I was just curious what kind of hardships he may face.

Seriously how foten does rape happen in prisons, I mean I cant imagine it really takes place often and people are traded. Yes if you're very camp etc you will be at risk from the tough gays, but an average guy, I think no way at all somehow

This is pretty much right, I've never been in prison, but I work in a prison. Put it
this way.....If I had to do time in prison, I would blow by brains out first. The shit I see and here is not for any normal man.

As far as getting raped it depends on what kind of camp you go to.If you go to a camp that's got Lifers and guys with 20 yrs and more of coarse it's gonna happen more.Prison is mostly of a mental thing.Just imagine being as board and lonely as you can imagine,and being treated as something other than a human by the gaurds.I don't know if your going,but my advise to you is to keep to yourself,learn a trade,and hope you go to a camp with a decient gym.

One of my good friends got out about three months ago. He was in for 5 years in state pen. He is black about 5'9" and 190 pounds. Of course when we hang out I ask him what it was like. This is what he has told me. He was first sent to minimum security at 18. Shortly after he was in some guy tried fucking with him and he beat him so bad the guy went to the infermury and he was sent to the hole for 3 months. This happened two more times and the third time he was sent to maximum security after three, three month stents in the hole for beating guys fucking with him. By the time he went to max security for fighting people new what he had done and that he was not a punk. I asked him about the "shanks" and he said that of course he bought one because everyone else had one. He said people when you go in the will test you to see if you are weak and if so you are gonna be someones bitch. Also drugs are easily available b/c that is how he made money selling weed for his boy. Their is more but you get the idea.

Well I did shorts stints here and there. The one thing I got to say is that its fuckin boring. Time goes by so slow in there. Especially when your in lockdown. Nothing to do except eat and read during lockdown. As for rapings, it doesn't happen as much as people think. There are so many fags in there willing to get fucked or suck a dick. I wouldn't worry about being raped. People will test you to see if you're a punk. You better be able to handle yourself. The one thing you will see a lot of is drugs. I think there are just as much drugs in there as on the street. The funny thing is jail is supposed to rehabilitate you, I learned more criminal shit then on the street. I've made a lot of connections in the pen. My advice, mind your own business, shut your mouth, do your time, and don't trust anybody.

He will be taken to intake where he will have a full body search and be given the basic prison issue supplies. Then he will be held in a holding area until he is taken to fish row. There, he will be tested a little and checked out. If people get the idea he is in any way weak he will soon be raped and humiliated. He will certainly be tested as soon as he hits the yard. If he holds his mud even in the face of a sure ass whipping he will most likely be ok as long as he doesn't step on anyones toes and has good manners. Bumping into someone and not saying excuse me can be grounds for a stabbing or a severe beating. As long as he doesn't do drugs, gamble or get into debt he will be fine. It's no biggie once your in there,you got the homeboys taking care of you already as you walk in,thats if you bang...then when its time to go to the yard you kickback with you click..one side of the yard would The arian brotherhood the other side would be the southerners and in the middle would be the Gorilla family etc... Dont get me wrong the show the oz,,has only one thing right when some inmate gets stabbed multiple times and your there to see it,You see no evil hear no evil and speak no evil. Simple as that, keep your nose clean and no one will fuck with you,. But if someone trying to punk you down you better beat the fuck out of him,cuz in there word travels fast,and this is in Ca state penn.

45 days sounds like city or county jail. I think this bro is inquiring about state jail conditions.
