Post Work Out - Drink/Anabolic Spike?

What do you guys do? I always have a shaker with me as i leave the gym prior to a whole food meal 45 minutes later.

I really like Coconut water for its taste and levels of potassium at 435mg per 250ml, 10g of carbs. Mixed with 50grams of whey and 30 of dextrose.

On the weekend I have a shake ready at home after the gym. During the work week I come home from the gym and shower and eat dinner after.

I think the whole "anabolic window" thing is greatly exaggerated, I notice zero difference in anything between immediately having a shake post workout and waiting an hour to eat a normal dinner.

It is all personal preference. I usually have water with hydro whey protein, bcaa, glutamine, and a little bit of oat powder right after my workouts. If I dont get some carbs in me after my workout i get super tired and a little shaky. Whatever works best for you.

I eat like half my daily right after my morning workout not because of some bogus window but because if I don't I'll probably jump out the truck on the way home and tackle a cow.:p

Dr Scott Stevenson has written extensively on peri wo nutrition. Google it. It's worth the search and read...

I usually hit a small whey shake right after training. I train in 90 degree weather most of the year, so it tends to be all I can stomach. Takes me a shower and an hour of cool down before I can look at real food.

That's just personal preference though. Not terrified of losing gains or anything. Peps me up a little quicker than not getting it in.

That sounds almost like my daily shake except I use

2 cups almond milk
1/3 carton egg whites
1 cup blueberries
1 cup oatmeal
1 cup kale
1 cup spinach
2 scoops whey

I split it into two shakes though.
I stole mine from Mutant's article on basskiller and never looked back!
