Personal Use Intl Travel to US

GottaGetIt

New Member
I'm currently in Bangkok Thailand and will be returning to the US in a month or two.
I'd like to take some gear back with me (about 40 ampules)
I'm on legit HRT in the US.
What is my best bet to stay out of trouble with customs?
Get my Thai doctor to write a script and take to the pharm I purchase OTC?
Throw it in my carry on and show a copy of my script from the US (out of date at this point - and a different dosage than I'd be bringing back)
Is Clomid a scriptable med in US?
Thanks.

Really, the only legally advisable solution would be to simply return to the US without any AAS, obtain a prescription from your US doctor and fill it at the pharmacy.

Forty ampoules could be considered sufficient for distribution and not consistent with use by an international traveler.

If it's only a few ampoules, then customs may use their discretion to allow it to pass rather than risk depriving travellers of essential medication. This doesn't mean it is necessarily legal to import only that customs has some discretion in its enforcement.

Millard,

Thanks for the reply.
Just to ask a bit further; If I get my Thai Doc to write a script for that amount and have my normal pharmacy (here in BKK) fill it with their OTC would that still leave me at odds with customs. Not worth jail time or trouble when I can already obtain it legally in the states. (which is what I'm hearing you say)

best bet is to call customs and ask....if you have a legit trt, the doc can write a small script for you to have in your time in thailand, if you are going to reside in the U.S., just enough to get by with until you can get a script in the U.S...I would not however use a U.S. script to get thai gear and then bring it back....

Fourth ampules?
If it was FOUR boxes containing TEN two cc ampules in each, It might be allowable with the script, especially if you are of Asian decent, really. However if we talking about fourty 10 cc vials of 200mg/ml tast- cypo
for example, I doubt customs would consider it a "personal use transport" and would probably confiscate it, THE WORSE THING TO DO HOWEVER IS "NON DISCLOSURE" if caught you could be arrested for attempting to IMPORT CONTRABAND!
Personally I'd just mail it here, unless there are legal issues in Thailand restricting it.

Your probabally ok especially if the script reads something like;
Substance X number 40 ampules
Sig: one cc QD IM until completed.
If asked tell them you suffer from "primary pituitary hypogonadism" and buying it locally was much less expensive.
Writing the script this way, should ensure customs will understand the dosing, interval and quantity are for "personal use" over a period of roughly ONE MONTH (which is generally allowable by law).
Remember to DISCLOSE IT on the standard re-entry "parcels and products" form!
Good luck

PS
Make sure the script is written in legible ENGLISH
and contains Drs name, address, ph number etc.

Actually, I would have the Doc write the script as follows.
Product X number fourty (specify mg/ml) ampules
Sig: TWO cc IM
QD (everyday) until completed.
This ensures the product will be consumed in twenty days and would certainly meet the thirty day "personal use" benchmark.
Tape a copy of the RX ON THE BOX occasionally they won't even bother opening the package once they see it.
However probably nothing makes customs agents more suspicious than "catching"
an UNDISCLOSED PACKAGE especially medicine that's a schedule III in the US. So you must DISCLOSE IT!
If they attempt to "confiscate"
it ensure they understand it use and indications. If that doesn't work ask for a supervisor (all those less than patient people in line behind you aren't going to be very happy when you do ....been there done that!) Explain how desperately you need the medicine to "function"!
Hell wasn't Dr Sensee a world renowned endocrinologist you visited in Thailand, which is why you embarked on your sojourn from the onset. And fortunately someone FINALLY diagnosed your condition!
I really believe you'll be ok especially if you follow my suggestions, but obviously I can't promise anything.
Again good luck!
P.S. Please let me the outcome good or bad.

I've done exactly that, remember my earlier suggestion which was more dependent upon VOLUME, but problems can and do certainly arise, such as;

The products can be readily stolen by unscrupulous employees (Oh yea!)
Rules vary from one country to the next regarding the "shipping" of medications (don't ship until your are aware of any restrictions)
The item must still past thru customs, among the MILLIONS of other parcels, and could be confiscated, (much less difficult in your absence).
Nonetheless you would be transporting, for all intensive purposes, an approximate one month "personal" supply of medicine, which is typically allowed by law, and if you declare it upon US entry NO LAWS ARE BROKEN (worse case scenario, its theirs).
They could still deny its entry but with due diligence and a credible argument confiscation would be remote, in my opinion.

This may be of interest to you:

21 USC Code Sections 956. Exemption authority

It states "lander border" and I have never seen anything that addresses arriving flights, but this part of the law allows importation of up to 50 dosage units of medicine. If your script is for, say, 200 mg/week, that means you could legally import 10,000 mg worth (five 10mL vials at 200 mg/mL).

^^^Not a lawyer but I have done this crossing from Tijuana with no problems. I had my doctor script with me.

Came through today and they didn't look in any of my bags.
I carried what I had left (about 8 small vials) still in the 20 vial box
and had my US script with it. Next time I go I'll mail it
to my PO Box.
Now that I'm back home I can just go to
the pharmacy and not worry about it.
Thanks again for the input.
