Path to a 500 wilks

Meet recap:

Squats went about as expected. Was hoping for 525, got 518. Glad I didn't do more because it wasn't there. Lol.

Bench. Opened light, hit it really easy. Then moved to 336, hit it really easy so bumped it to 369. Got a video I'll probably post in the chat. Was pretty smooth but you can see my butt come up a bit so I got 2 reds on it.

Deadlift. Opened really light at 567. Tried sumo and couldn't balance. Got too much on my toes. Went back and did it conventional and it was pretty smooth. Tried to yolo 639 for my 3rd. Got it up easy but couldn't hold onto it and lost it right at lockout.

Was talking to kody blazek. He was saying if he can stay healthy he's going to shoot for a 2,100lbs total at 181 in the next year. I guess from what people say he can do it pretty easy in the gym.

Such a hard thing to get the number you want to on meet day. I mean beyond that beginner status it’s just a fight to pick the right numbers let alone go 9/9.
You have to be one of the few people to switch deadlift stance mid meet lol.

Blazek had a 2K total in wraps at 181. He lost his crown recently. I think 181s are super competitive right now, sleeves or wraps. 2100 in wraps is gona be a real thing here at these big money meets. Malik Derstine, Blake Lehew, Jason Garrison are ill putting up big numbers right now and are either in their prime or haven’t peaked their careers yet.

Yeah. I was hoping to be just a bit stronger than I was heading into it. Oh well. Body seems to be feeling pretty good now so it shouldn't be too hard to get right back into it.

Haha. There was only one guy there that caught that. After my second attempt he was like, "Why were you in the warmup rooms pulling sumo but you just did your 2nd attempt conventional?" Haha. I guess he hadn't heard I'm a bit retarded

Anyone that can go 2,000+ is just strong AF regardless of size. Lol. But seeing kody blazek next to me, if he was built the same as me he would probably be walking around shredded at about 230. Lol. He's just kind of short with a small build. But just jacked.
 
Weight today was, 194.0

Workout was,

3x8 squats @ 345
3x8 incline bench (supposed to be flat bench)
3x12 nautilus lat pulldown
4x10 preacher curl
4x10 skull crushers

Back to building up my numbers. Going to try and slowly cut down to about 185 though. Back to doing high bar squats until next meet prep. Will probably do another meet at 181 in November before I permanently move to 198.

Workout was,

3x6 pause squat @ 335
3x6 spoto press @ 280
50 pullups
4x12 facepulls

Traps are still sore from deads the other day. Lol. Cut is going good. The little mini-cut I did before the meet must've actually made me lose a couple pounds of fat. Already back down to 15, maybe 14%. Hopefully a morning weight of 185 will have me looking pretty lean again.

Everything is still feeling decent. Was getting the beginnings of some bicep tendonitis flaring up the week before my meet. It's all gone now. Will probably just keep high bar squatting though because it feels good.

I get tendinitis myself a fair bit and it takes weeks for it to clear up. Perhaps back off the exercises that aggravate it next time it happens.

Once it sets in fully it's extremely hard to get to go away. Usually takes me a few weeks of no aggravating it to start to feel better. For me it's basically just low bar squats will aggravate it after awhile. I was doing them steady for a few months though before I finally started to feel it creeping up

Yes it does take up to 3 months in some severe cases and that is a big setback in my opinion.

Try elbow sleeves?

Nice, quick day. Can tell I'm not used to squatting 3x/week yet. Strength is there, but feeling a little tight before the last few workouts. I typically seem to adjust pretty fast though.

5x5 squats @ 405
5x5 paused bench @ 295
4x10 nautilus lat pulldown
4x10 tricep pushdown

Squats were pretty snappy. Bench started off really fast but definitely lost steam after the 3rd. 4th was rpe 8. 5th was rpe 9.5. lol. So the defecit is definitely effecting my endurance. Judging by the 1st set, the 5th shouldn't have been any more than a 7.
