Package Forwarded by mistake

Hey so, I need advice.
I bought some items from a trusted source, I've used them in the past, everything has been always smooth.
This time it seems the package is lost.
The shipment was local, USPS priority mail.
This what the last tracking status says:
"Your item was forwarded to a different address at xxxx on February 11, 2023 in XXXXXXXX. This was because of forwarding instructions or because the address or ZIP Code on the label was incorrect."
What do I do now? In a normal situation I would open a "help request form on the USPS website, but given the content of the package I don't know if I should do it , since I'm supposed to answer a lot of question about the content of package and the sender.
Should I do it or should I just consider the package lost? I don't want to raise to many questions about this package.
I'm posting this in legal because I'm interested in the possible legal ramifications if I decide to pursue the package and someone opens it or something.
Thanks

Of course you don’t look into it. You pretend nothing happened, because nothing did happen. What package? What are you talking about?
The legal implications of seeking out a parcel containing illicit goods is tacit admission you were expecting them. Still unlikely it would be pursued by LE but why risk it over a pack?
You write it off and assume nothing.

Member @bornSkinny gave you good advice. Couple of things; your source labeled the box incorrectly? Unless you made a mistake when sending the email or Wickr or whatever encrypted platform you used to place your order? Your due a reship if it wasn't your mistake.

Lastly. Just a reminder. When tracking a pkg with questionable contents using the tracking system provided by and located at usps.com, always be sure your VPN is on. Once you log on and "search" for a tracking # your IP address is forever linked to that pkg.

If the contents of the pkg is ever discovered or if the source is under investigation and the pack is going to be intercepted you can expect to be contacted. Tracking a pkg is also a way to show you're expecting or that you are in the know.

Also, you'll want to keep an eye out for the pkg as it may eventually make its way to the address on the box. Once the mistake is found out and if the usps decides to send it to the correct address instead of returning it to the Sender, it won't go directly to the address. The pkg will back track the way it came and then head your way. Also, the pkg won't track until it reaches its final destination which will be the original sender(which will be an address not under the control of the source...if he knows what he's doing) or you. Good luck!
