Nintendo Re-releasing classic NES

Welp, no new games. The chairman of Nintendo said they chose the 30 games for variety so they wont add new ones.
But if it sells well there may be similar versions for the SuperNintendo and N64

I think there's been independently made NES style games in the last decade. I think there was like 1000+ original games made, too. A lot of Japanese games have been translated to English as well.

Without Mike Tyson's Punchout or Duck Hunt what's even the point! :( Still a few good ones on the list I suppose. Would probably be worth the $ just for the trips down memory lane.

Get an old Wii, read up on how to jailbreak it, download ROMs and buy a couple classic controllers. I did it in an afternoon and now I have every NES and SNES game ever made. Paid like $10 for an SD card and I bought the best controllers for like $40, but there's cheaper options.

Oh damn. I'm definitely gonna have to look into this! I have an old Wii somewhere I think and that would be awesome to do with the kiddos! Thanks!

Yeah, I had one given to me. I had to buy a sensor bar for like $3 on eBay, an SD card for like $10 and the authentic Wii classic controllers were like $40 for two. You can find the complete ROM packs online for free easily or on a torrent site.

I just Googled "how to jailbreak a Wii" and went from there. Had a few snags because I didn't have the latest version of the Wii system or whatever. It's another free download. Then just had to follow directions and figure out what was what. If everything would've worked exactly right it would've taken thirty minutes, because of the snags it took like 4-5 hours. Definitely worth it though.

The SNES controller was superior in every way to the NES and later PS1 and PS2 kind of followed suit. The N64 controller I thought was a downgrade from the SNES one.

360 is good, too. Same general layout.

Atari Jaguar had the biggest controller I can remember.

It was a clunky setup though.

Nintendo is going to re-release the classic 8 bit NES in November with 30 built in games (they say there may be more for download later). Going for about $60 with hdmi and usb ports.

Im not big into the new video games, but I loved old Nintendo and Ill be the first in line. I cant wait to introduce my son to these games (He's 3, so theyll be easier for him than new games).

And before anyone says it, yes I know about EMU and ROMs. I have them on my phone. But nothing beats havingthe system and controller in hand.

I still have the classic NES, haha.

Those old square controllers cut your hands up and gave me a bad case of wrinkled thumbs :)

True. But a meathead like me needs simple. I like the 2 buttons and directional pad. Someone gave me a PS4 as a present and I could never figure out all the buttons on the controller. 2 directional pads. Over 10 buttons...

Still work? What's your ritual to make that pos fire up?
It's not my original one but a buddy of mine gave me his a couple years back. It still works but is a pain in the ass to get the games to load up.

Blowing on the cartridge a few times and making sure not to push it in all the way usually works. That didn't sound right. Lol
