New to the forum; questions on the commitment of steroids

I think its pretty generally accepted among people who don't/have never roided (such as myself) that running 1 or 2 cycles and then hopping off would make a big difference in one's physique. I am new to this server and on the contrary, after reading a lot it is to my understanding that roiding is a lifelong commitment. Once you get off you are almost guarenteed to lose 80% of your gains, which is why most bodybuilders (or even just dudes doing it for aesthetics) never PCT. This is probably the biggest reason I'm not gonna get into roiding and just stay natty while I'm young (maybe hop on trt when im 40 lol). How fair would y'all say this assessment is? Is there anything I can do to make a larger amount of my gains "stick" following only a couple cycles?

Sounds like you need to do a lot more research then. If you lose 80% of your gains after a cycle then you did something very wrong.
If you want to keep your gains after a cycle then you need to keep lifting and eating properly. You will certainly lose some of the progress but there's no excuse to go back to how you looked before your first few cycles.

The lifelong commitment part is usually because of 2 things IMO
1) People are gym rats and know they'll be cycling / lifting for the rest of their lives. It's easier to stay on TRT than to try and PCT multiple times a year.

2) Most of us will end up on TRT anyways. If you already have your kids and don't mind taking shots for life, then there's no real benefit to coming completely off.

You give me some hope man . I've looked into studies and anecdotal evidence that supports what you're saying, but there is a vocal group of people in this community who believe in the "lifelong commitment" idea. I'll do some more research before I make a decision.

Hey, welcome to the forum!
I get what you are saying. It is true that steroids help with muscle growth, but yes, they come with a commitment. Without proper PCT, it’s likely you will lose some gains after a cycle, but you can hold onto a decent amount if you stick to a good training and diet plan post cycle.
The key is managing expectations. If you are staying natty for now, that is completely fine, everyones journey is different. Some go the TRT route later, and it works for them. Just sharing my experience here, but it all depends on what you want to achieve.

Anyone that says you’ll keep your gains afterwards either did steroids way too early on in their lifting career or never actually experienced trying it themselves.

You will lose almost all of what you gain from steroids over the course of the following months, whether that be 3, 6, 9, 12 months. No matter how hard you try, you’ll inevitably slowly wittle away those gains. You’ll never be or look as hard once you come off. It simply can’t compare.

Even if not physically addicting, the feeling of being “on” itself is addictive. You won’t want to stop and become less than what you used to be or could be with the drugs.

This is my real perspective of this and having done steroids, come off, and then over 10 years later, coming back on TRT which eventually devolved into running cycles. So this is essentially advice from a drug addict lol. But seriously, it’s a large commitment and not worth it if you’re not making lifting your life

Yeah. How can someone say you'll keep most of your gains on a cycle where you had say 5,000 ng/dl total test if your natural baseline testosterone is only 200 ng/dl like mine was. Look how much Arnold shrunk down in his 80s box office run and I'm sure he had natural high testosterone if you look at his early days pics. Look at it this way. It may help you get to your natural size limit quicker. You might even be bigger than that when on but you'll shrink back down after
