New here, 22 yrs, 5’9”, active duty military. Been lifting seriously for 3 years. Before everything went south, I was sitting around 160 lbs at ~16% BF. nothing crazy, but decent size and strength for my frame, and I was pretty skinny my entire life, so I was proud of how lifting boosted my confidence.
14 weeks ago, I had a labral repair with remplissage after wrecking my shoulder in a skiing accident. Recovery’s been steady, I’m doing PT twice a week, cleared to lift with restrictions, and slowly building back my pressing and pulling volume. I lost a noticeable amount of mass and strength, especially in my upper body. Definitely dealing with some atrophy, and that imbalance is messing with my mechanics more than I expected.
I’m not looking to blast anything crazy, but I’m considering a mild cycle (thinking low-dose Var or Oral Tbol or similar) to support the rehab process and hold onto what I’ve still got. I plan to start after PT ends and I've reached my limits. No prior AAS experience. Just trying to get back to baseline efficiently without compromising long term recovery or triggering any red flags with the military.
Main training goals right now are mobility + muscle retention. Once I’m cleared for full intensity, I’ll shift back toward lean hypertrophy with a strength bias.
Appreciate the knowledge here, especially from anyone who’s run mild cycles during injury recovery or dealt with shoulder surgeries like this.
Thanks.
