if you haven't tried DIF gel, i've found that it works very well. you can find it at home depot/lowe's etc.. it works best in combination with the steamer, but i've found it works just fine by itself and a scraper..can get messy as hell, but that goop has stripped every room in my house....also it runs out quickly in a large room, you may need a couple bottles for a good sized, say 200 square foot room.

I looked on the inter-net and it said something about fabric softner and hot water? That diff gel thing could be a possibility.

You guys are not going to let me do this all tomorrow without some help.

Go to your local Sherwin Williams.

Buy the Dif that Crewboss talked about. Also get a wallpaper perforator. Its like a pizza cutter, but has things on it to poke little holes in the paper. Once you do the holes, sponge on the Dif. Let it sit for however long the directions say. Then steam it. Pull from the top down.

That works as long as 1) the wallpaper was properly hung in the first place and has a very good bond with the wall, and 2) that the wallpaper isnt textured.

thanks

Yes it is lightly textured very very light. It comes off easy with just the steamer but I am just looking for an easy remedy for the nooks and crannys and crappy spots. I have too also do two full 15X15 bedrooms. In the coming weeks. Oh my. I am in over my head.

Hiring someone to do it for you might cost a couple hundred $, but it would save a lot of aggrevation on your part.

Oh, God, please don't! This is your home we're talking about here. If you don't want to take proper care of the place, then give it to me.

And, really, does it get anymore white trash than painting over wallpaper?

A couple of cans of Krylon and you're good to go Homer.

The thing that makes the difference is whether or not the cheapass builder PRIMED the sheetrock before hanging the paper. Primered wall - easy, no primer- not so easy. Don't worry if you gouge the wall in a few spots, joint compu ound and a putty knife will fix you up.

dude just get a bunch of five and dime posters and hang them over the paper. problem solved. lol.

the steamer and dif will work well. removing wallpaper is a big pain in the ass, i just did a few rooms in my place and dif and a scraper made it pretty easy. worth the effort. don't paint over the shit bro, grizz is right nothing says "welcome to my home, want a newport and a haffenreffer" like painted paper.

You guys are great. Thanks for he help. I am hitting it up now. Posters, funny. reminds me when I was in college. Punch a hole in the wall, cover it. Plus it is a nice house and I like to do things right, even if they are a pain in the asssssssssss.

Crewboss- what the hell is haffenreffer? I'm guessing it's cheap beer, but that must just be in your parts. Round abouts here, they real billyhills, drink natty light, PBR and Stag. My old roomate was from a very small town and his Dad has a shrine built to Stag beer. It was funny as hell!

Juiceman- I've removed wallpaper in my parents' house and it certainly does suck some serious nuts, but, in the end, the results are soooo much better. It's worth it.

what up grizz - haffenraffer is malt beer, comes in 40's like old english. gotta be close to 9% alcohol. the natty lights run early and often up here too bro, along with the old milwaukee and schlitz. stroh's has got to be the all time puddle can, we used to pick up a case of that piss for $8. never heard of PBR, come to think of it i don't think i've ever seen stag either. haffenraffer is fuel though, a 40 is $1.85 and can double in a pinch for small engine grease or commercial driveway cleaner. tastey stuff.
