Natural peanut butter

hey guys been doing a cutting cycle for a few weeks and have been keeping a very simple consistent diet containing chicken , eggs and natural peanut butter . So as you can tell I’m pretty much trying to keep carbs very very low and use the peanut butter as my fats source , I’m just curious if that’s something that’s advisable or something that you guys would consider a bad idea , thanks !

Those are the only foods you’re eating?

Don’t know if you are using a brand name “natural” peanut butter or something truely made by hand but a lot of these “natural” peanut butters actually have more sugar in them then the same brand “regular” peanut butter. I read the labels on a few different brands of both and was unpleasantly suprised.

It’s skippy all natural and Teddy’s all natural , the labels are exactly the same but I’m just curious if this is a good fat source

Pretty much any nut or nut butter would be a good source of fat along with avocados. Some kinds of cheese, coconut oil, and fish would be healthy sources of fat. I was also on a chia seed kick at one point.

I believe it is a good fat source. I know cans of almonds and other nuts usually have that “heart healthy” cymbal on them. I was always told to avoid animal fats, they are the unhealthy fats. I know some dudes that use a tablespoon full of mct oil mixed in with their chicken and rice or salads to boost good fat intake.

Coconut oil always fucks with my stomach ( not sure why) and I love cheese to much it would be to tempting to over indulge so I keep it out of the house, I’d be willing to look into chia if that’s something you would consider a better fat source

I could Deff see that being a simple way to pack in healthy fats but mct and coconut oil makes my stomach really uneasy which I never got why

Chia seeds also have a lot of carbs but like 95% of that is fiber so not sure how you account for that in your diet. The reason people say to avoid animal fat is because it’s mostly saturated fat, you want to find source with unsaturated fat, polyunsaturated is considered the best, but just make sure it’s unsaturated for the most part. That’s where chia seeds come in, they are super high in fiber and fat but mostly unsaturated and omega fats. I used to order them somewhere online but forget where, this was years ago so I’m sure health markets or even local supermarkets stock them now, don’t buy into the packaging hype though, plain ass seeds are good enough.

I’m not on Keto because I personally don’t think it’s worth my time to do so unless I’m planning a long long term lifestyle of doing so , but I am trying to keep carbs low but if it’s 90-95% fiber then that doesn’t bother me at all, I’ll have to look into buying some chia seeds , thank you

I’m reading my peanut butter nutrition label and it says for 2 tablespoons there’s 16 grams of fat and only 3.5 grams of that is saturated , now to me that sounds pretty decent considering the peanut butter is pretty damn good tasting but would you consider that a high amount of saturated , I’ve been taking 4 tablespoons of it a day so that’s 7 grams of saturated fat a day

Assuming your fat I take is 50-70g or more, a whole 7g isn’t anything to worry about.

I assume your not getting ready for a competition and just looking for general fitness. If you’ve got very specific goals in mind then someone more knowledgeable could probably get you a more calculated answer.

Yeah just general fitness not trying to compete , maybe in 2 years or so but I’m far far off from being able to do so with how I stand currently , but yeah I figured 7 grams must be pretty minuscule, thanks for the help bro!

low carbs are overrated. Work hard, do cardio, eat healthy, don't obsess over carbs.

I find it funny when I see those insane African bodybuilders who eat all whole foods and take no supplements, because can you guess what nutrient is #1 in their diets? That's right, CARBS!

#2?? FATS

And where is protein intake on the list? Yep, 3rd down!!

I understand what your saying and do believe there’s much truth to that , but I also think that when it comes to which macros to have you also need to really make it a person by person analysis , I’m 23 and as far back as I can remember I’ve seen kids eat twice as much as me and stay weigh 20-30 pounds less than me . I have fat boy genetics and because I’m so carb sensitive I like to really minimize them on a cut , now when I’m bulking in the near future once my damn stomach goes flat ( I pray it’s soon) than correct carbs will be added into the mix , some dudes can eat a fucking pizza for dinner as there carbs and the scale doesn’t change , myself would be screwed doing so. I need to be 100% on point at all times to make any progress diet wise .
