My Sesathin log

I started to log my weight on my Fitday on 2-1-6. I started the Sesathin the same day. I was 247 lbs--after a four day traveling holiday with lots of restaurant meals. Some body measurements from around the middle of January were: 41 " waiste, 50 " chest, 17.25 bicept, 26" thigh. I have kept an excel spreadsheet for over two years.

I take the Sesathin three times per day @ quarter teaspoon per dose. The flavor is a pleasant sesame oil.

I spent six weeks from the begining the year doing mostly circuit training and yoga to increase CV fitness. Two weeks ago I switched back to sets and reps for a three day split: Mon: back and bi's" Wednesday: legs, abs, and shoulders Friday: chest and tris. I generally lift for 60 to 75 minutes per session. Thursday night and Saturday morning I do 1-1.5 hr yoga classes. I'm just getting back into walking 30-60 minutes in the early am in the foothills close to my house. For the past three months I did no aerobics as I was in physical therapy to repair a sprain in the right MCL.

My diet is pretty simple. I stay with the same foods for long stretches.

Breakfast: 1.5 cup of steele cut oats and two scoops of whey protein.

AM snack: 2 scoops of Muscle Milk

Lunch: Veggies and lean protein OR 1.5 cup oats with two scoops of whey.

Afternoon snack: 2 scoops of whey

Dinner: Veggies and lean protein

Late snack: a few tablespoons peanut or almond butter.

Friday night is pizza night. Omlettes Sat and Sun AM. These are my cheats.

I'm down 9 pounds since I started. Nice to feel my strength coming back with the split routine.

I just got a new Ironman Tanita so I will probably toss in some new data points as I go.

As per the Sesathin, my libido is good. My bf% is too high and it's too soon to assess the composition effects. Feel free to post feedback and suggestions. Pat

Down another pound. My energy toward the middle of the week was low. I suspect my calorie cutting was too harsh. As I usually let up a little on the weekends, I'll start putting all my foods into Fitday and keep a better calorie count starting Monday.

well, seems I've not changed wt or compostion (at least on my Tanita), so time to add something else. As the old knees are doing well, I'll start with a half hour of cardio per day. The knees are doing well with squats, leg presses, and hack squats. I prefer standing one legged ham curls to lying. This just allows the knee to move thru its own rotation without impingment.

Sorry to butt in here man.Iv been on it a month and have noticed my knees are now free of pain.My cholestrol was up a tad high a month ago and will return to the doctors over the next two weeks to check levals again to see if sesathin has made a differance in that area.:)

thanks for jumping in. It was getting lonely in this thread. And yes, I really do want to hear what others think and what they experience. Would like to hear what your lipid profile looks like pre- and during. I'll add that to my list of things to look at.

I also realize that following the progress of an overweight 61 y.o., non- bodybuilder may not be interesting to some.

got the aero up to 30 minutes per day plus the weightlifting. Glad that I did a few weeks of cardio with curcuits before returning the old sets and reps. My energy for the workouts is high and persistent. Yesterday was my legs, abs, shoulders day.

Squat: five sets, 135 to 315(five reps.)
Presses: four sets, 225 to 560
Lunges: four lengths with 25 dbs.
Standing leg curls: 4 sets, 60 to 90
Seated calf: 3 sets 100 to 225

Seated smith presses: 4 sets 135 to 225
Upright pulley rows: 4 sets 70 to 110
Pulley parallel rows: same

Machine crunches: 4 sets all 60
Hanging leg raises: 4 sets
Front planks: 3 X 30"
Side planks: 3 X 30" ea. side

Leave tomorrow morning for a three day psychology training in LaJolla. Hope there's time to get the gym for chest and tris.

HeadDoc,

Just wanted you to know that I too am interested in your log so your not alone :-) I am glad I ran across it actually since I was just looking into possibly ordering a combo product called Sesapure - Glucorell R so even though our body compositions and routines are quite different I am interested in your results and thoughts regarding Sesame lignans.

Droped another pound. This is even after a weekend away. Although I was active every morning away, it seems I paid less of a price. Really enjoyed working out at the LaJolla Sports Club.

I'm just beginning to study the sesame oil/lignan. I found lots of good studies on enhancing lipid profiles.

Did you get that other bottle of Ses from us?

So how many lbs have you lost thus far? And if you had to characterize SesaThin's effects, what would you say?

I'm down ten pounds in a month. Hopefully, all can tell that I am not driven to lose the weight as a bodybuilder in the cutting phase of contest prep. I stick to the program during the week and then slack off on the weekends. However, the progress is an over decline.

So far, as I've used the same nutritional plan without this much success, I have to attribute some of the progress to the Sesathin. In a week or so, I'll take some new body measurements, beyond the weight. People have notices the change and commented positively.

I have noted no negative sides--I did drip the oil on one of my Tommy Bahamas shirts and cannot wash it out. Would this count?

Haven't gotten the second bottle yet. Still haven't finished the first. It is lasting a bit longer than I thought ir would when I started. I haven't missed more than a few doses. Tkrade, I would appreciate it if you could direct me to some research on the sesame lignand vs. sesame oil.

decided to take limited measurements. I've always thought that the simplest form of composition comparisons is the measurement of the biceps and waiste taken around the belly button. I took some measurements in mid January this year and again the other night.
Before Now
Waiste: 41" 39.5
Biceps
cold 16.5 17.25
cont. 16.25 17.00

This is still without consistent aerobics done apart from my gym activities. I use the two measures because my waiste always reflects my fat gain and my arms much less so. The scales is not as sensitive. I had last ten and then the weight went up a pound. There's other data from my new Tanita. Still looking at the trends and trying to make sense of them. Those will come to the post.

Friday night. Seems like forever my favorite night of the week. Just before this week's DiGorno pizza, I took some data. Wt. 235.8 (started at 247), Tanita has me at 26.7 % body fat. Started at 27.9. Muscle mass was at 165.2 lbs. It's now 165.8. Visceral fat was at 16 lbs and is not 15.

I know there is alot of criticism about the Tanita. I use it as a relative measurement tool. No loss of libido yet. I know that many of the people who keep on line journals post pictures. I must admit my own sense of inhibition/modesty (?) over this. I guess when I get down to some bodyfat that would be appreciable to the members here, I'll reconsider.

Tkarrde, thanks for the additional bottles. I guess you got the drift from this log that a month or so of use is just not going to be enough.:D

Over the past week or so, I had some set backs. I banged a knee that was recovering thru a course of physical therapy. I strained a shoulder last Friday by lifting too agressively on a machine I had never used before. I've been doing ice/heat and Alieve to tolerance for a week and a half. The lifting has been less intense and the aerobics have stopped--other than warm ups and yoga. Two pounds went back on. Muscle mass on the Tanita was up a pound. I do miss my aerobics.

I did get some hormone blood work. Total testosterone 1089 ng/dl (241-827), Free Testosterone23.3 pg/ml (6.6- 18.1). Estrodial , sensitive 8 pg/ml(0,0-70). Estrogens, total 160 pg/ml. Both test values are high. H&H are normal. Serum glucose normal.

So I lowered the Test cyp to 50to60 mg and decreased the arimidex to .25 mg three times per week.

I don't post often but I do read quite often and yes I am still following your log... ps I also use the Tanita for the same reasons and with the same reservations and methodology and you and I find it helpful

back down weight wize. Libido actually got better with lower test. My knee is mostly better--so I guess I'm ot of excuses for avoiding the cardio. Shoulder apparently needs more rest--which I didn't give it this week. Rest always seems to be something I try to find ways to postphoning. :)

Let's see, got back from trip to Burbank to see my daughter and grandson. Came back to pack up my office and move into new quarters. Construction on the new place is still ongoing. The stress over the past two weeks has been enormous. Missed meals, missed workouts, fast food--yup! full catastrophe living. Here's todays' readings from the Tanita. 235.2 lbs, 27% BF, waist is 38.5. Biceps 16.25/ 17.25. So even without the kind of consistency I had in the beginning, the effects continue to be positive. I never did get my aerobic goals in place. Still lifting and going to yoga. Libido is good. My skin got drier.

My weight dropped to 234. A new stress was added. I had a prostate scan and biopsy on Tuesday. Got the new today that everything was clear. Not PIN or tumor tissue. No exercise this week. Got my shoulder evaluated. Sports medicine doc ruled out dislocation, rotator cuff tear, and bursitis. Gave me some supplemental exercises. With the impending biopsy, I could not use anti-inflamatories for the past few weeks. This hurt the recovery of the shoulder. Just need to make sure the bleeding stops in the urine so I can start again. Libido is still good. Tanita indicated that the drop in weight was a drop in muscle mass.

short note for the week. I could not exercise till Wednesday of this week due to bleeding. I also got my shoulder checked out by my sports med doc. No dislocation or bursitis. Slight cartlege damage. Now able to do alieve again. Yesterday's workout felt good and kept the area feeling pain free for several hours.

Taking off for six days in LA. Hope to work out twice there at the World's gym in Burbank. Two day seminar at UCLA over the weekend.

Weight is still 234, bf is 26%, lean estimate of 166 lbs.

Pat,

You really seem to be having a hard go of it and I am sorry to hear of all your difficulties... I wish you the best...

I am now on my TRT for 59 days and I have not been adding much of anything to my program in order to controll the variables while monitoring my TRT progress. I have posted my stats, pre TRT and most recent lab work in the following thread:
https://thinksteroids.com/community/threads/134241442

I am currently awaiting my DHT results as well as the advice of my doctors as to my next steps... HCG, arimidex, etc but I must admit one of the things that is really driving me nuts is the fat around my waist and my current BF% which is why I follow your log :-) I am getting impatient and I am really considering adding some supplements to start reducing my BF. Possibly some PS to slightly reduce my cortisol, maybe some low dose DHEA and Sesathin or Sesapure - Glucorell R. I have already increased my fiber intake, modified my diet and soon I hope to get off my lazy butt and start working out again :-)

James
