Motoprolol and blood pressure

Who has taken metoprolol? Dose? Effects on blood pressure and anything else?

My doc added a small dose of this, and it dumped my blood pressure so low I had to halve it (now half a very small dose). This is combined with the previously prescribed telmisartan, which was not getting the job done all by itself.

What dosages are you running. I'm on 80 telimisartan 25 htz. I still get high reading sometimes 130 / 85. Maybe I should try this.

I can't tolerate diuretics well for some reason. Causes me all sorts of issues including cramping up in the gym.

right now 25mg

I was taking it a while back. I think I was taking 6.25mg 2x/day. IME the biggest effect I got from it was light headedness when I would lift heavy or hard. It didn’t do much for my BP when starting or stopping.

Metoprolol & combined Telmisartan: I'd be making sure my doc was monitoring electrolytes, eGFR, and creatinine. Metoprolol's primary mechanism of action is antagonism of β1-adrenoreceptors, but also acts to reduce renin output from the kidneys and may include diminished SNS output from the brain.

As you can see, its reduction of renin will act at least additively with telmisartan on the RAAS.

I wrote about metoprolol & bisoprolol's potential efficacy in combination with clenbuterol in my thread, Clenbuterol focus: Practical Research on Clen & Beta2- Adrenergic Compounds, Protocols as they likely serve to prevent any potential cardiac toxicity with high dose clen.

Practically: I think beta blockers pose a lot of difficulty for bodybuilders. They reduce SNS output, affecting effort. They may combine unfavorably with ARBs/ACE inhibitors. And they generally just make people hypotensive and feel weak.

I'd use it low dose and very sparingly, preferably on nontraining days where hypertensive values are concerning you at rest.

Hello, I'm currently on 50mg of Losartan. I was thinking of adding some Telmisartan. Anybody mix the two? I get Losartan from my doctor, but when I go on cycle my BP raises a lot. I have a line on Telmisartan.

I was thinking I could mix as long as I consider both together so my overall dose isn't too high?

Any thought brothers.

Don't think your supposed to mix them. Look at @bgpharmaceudicaldrugs website....you can see what Telmisartan mixes pills with. Like htz or Metoprolol. Losartan can be mixed with htz also. They sell the mixed pills. I'm in the same boat. I took losartan with htz but it only lowers my bp 10 points on each side. Same with Telmisartan. I may try metoprolol with telmisartan soon.

As you can probably tell by the "sartan" on the end, both drugs are of the same class and mechanism of action, which is why taking both won't do much that increasing Losartan to 100mg wouldn't do all by itself.

And then I have fucking mornings like this one, 133/94

Lot of work stress right now, been skipping cardio for just a few days to work . . . but that sucks on BP meds.

What helped me a lot with blood pressure but especially with heart rate is cardio everyday in a calorie deficit.
I lost 10 kg this cut and my heart rate went from 82 to 52 at rest. I feel a lot better now.

Cardia is a good remedy, I checked the effectiveness on myself and of course, in the aggregate, with a diet, it’s just what you need.

Just some anecdotes in my experience. I used to love metoprolol to come down from adderall when I just got too damn much built up. I used to think it was super powerful. But I think I read in a study since then that it only really effects a 5 point reduction (+/-) change when used in people who are not amphetamines lunatics... Like ME.. So apparently I was reaping a huge reward in the beta1 blockade blocking the exogenous amphetamine, but then taking it down the road for just general HBP, it didn't do much..

On a side note I really like Bystolic which is the "refined version" of MetPro. I used to get samples all the time and that was all i needed for a amphed shutdown. Never bought it till it was generic. I DO NOT THINK THE GENERICS WORK THE SAME. Its should be noted I think I recall reading in studies that Bystolic will actually start to involve with Beta 2 receptors as well it dosed higher or on it longer...

Honestly I tried to just take Bystolic(generic) recently just for the lowered BP amphets are NOT in the mix right now. 5mgs was pretty potent after a few days and what bugged me was the rebound. I dont want to used them regularly but only for sniping. I noted the rebound would send my heart into a moment or two of fits so I just dont know. Seems like an on or off proposition for sure..

@Deezznutzz - yea some you can't mix but I noted recently in an interaction with an internal posing as a doc in one of those "FOCUS" shops that prescribe ADD meds alone. He was always giving me grief about 145/95 and I was like WTF thats my norm for the last 20 years. Call me "edgy" right.. LOL. But he was talking about maybe I needed to be "one of those folks on a TRIPLE POTION BP MED MIX". I was kinda like fuk you and bailed was not worth it... I was like SERIOUSLY?!?!? I think the fucker subliminally wanted me dead the little worm he was...

It's really effective at lowering blood pressure. You might want to experiment with it.
When you are back around hit me on this what is your recommended dosage of olive leaf and what form specifically for a semi-muscular 300lb guy. I also want to add that I just ran Bystolic for the first time for a month straight and it did about JACK SHIT with not beta stimulating drugs in play, and as a singular BP applied med for its intended purpose. I'm also fairly certain it is interfering with my heart rate in a bad way (chest pains). And for WHAT? 5 points...?!? Come on...

Further I really wonder if drugs like Metoprolol and Bystolic's primary function is a simply as attempting to slow heat rate as a primary method of action. So that's interesting in itself and makes you start to wonder the various means of "lowering blood pressure" via meds. And that flashes me back to a QUACK that once told me maybe I was one that needed a (Tirple cocktail of BP meds)... Which I now speculate to vary from a variety of aspects ranging from dilation of blood vessels, to interacting with sodium/potassium body electrical drivers at local levels, to working at the brain primarily to slow CNS activity (Metoprolol I suspect). TELL ME IF I AM OFF BASE IF THERE IS ANYONE LEFT AROUND HERE WITH A BRAIN...

But @Inspired - Hit me back on this thread on the olive stuff.. ALSO I wonder what the mechanism of action might be with olive leaf? Have you dug that deeply yet?
