Meal timing, digestion time

A random one - since the digestion time of majority clean foods we eat is 24-72 hrs, what's the whole point of meal/nutrition timing? What's the point of having my pre-workout meal if I am probably utilizing yesterday's breakfast right now?

For tomorrow’s session bruddah

That’s the time to eliminate it, your stomach is a pit of acid as soon as something gets there it starts breaking down. If everything took that long why can people use insulin and white rice?

another reason is for your metabolism

another (more for the unenhanced) for as many protein synthesis times as possible

another If you ate 300p 400c 150f in one or two meal you just can’t get all out of it as if you fed your stomach acid 30-40p then few hrs later (a buffer) 40 more and so on

Well that's what I am trying to figure out. I am not saying that meal timing etc doesn't matter at all. Maybe the bulk gets digested quickly and the rest is digested over that 24-72 hours.

Every possible article I read lately about digestion claims digestion process takes actually a lot of time that's why I wanted to put meal timing in bodybuilding nutrition into context.

I definitely know why 6 meals is definitely better than 3 (for me it is).

What I don't get is why, if digestion takes that much time, so many knowledgeable coaches rely on specific tweaks pre-post-peri workout in terms of food, when actually what is utilised at the moment is food from days back.

Again not saying it's wrong, just wanted someone with knowledge to bring a satisfactory answer

My understanding is that it may take 24-72 hours to shit something out but the hormonal responses are almost immediate. Insulin being the main one when talking about peri workout nutrition. And then glycogen replenishment. I think timing of glycogen replenishment is probably overblown (people thinking you have to eat or slam a protein shake immediately after working out). As long as you eat carbs at some point between workouts I believe it’s fine.

Not to mention energy though. Think about a fasted workout.. yes you’re fuel is from your meal the night before but as far as performance goes there’s no doubt that eating before a workout is better in terms of strength.

Just my thoughts on it - don’t know if it’s right or wrong. Curious to see others replies.

I'm no expert in the subject but I know that when I'm dieting down on very low calories that I feel the carbs from the white rice I ate about an hour later and it helps fuel my workout.

I think the idea is to have a steady flow of macronutrients instead of sporadic metabolic bombs.

Also, The hormonal response is quite immediate. That's half the battle, Even if the nutrients aren't available for use yet, The body is aware that they are plentiful and you will avoid being in a catabolic state.

Your body doesn't store protein so you need to have spread out meals for better recovery. You can time your carbs around your workouts. Idk where you got 24-72hrs at. Especially if your on gear you need carbs. Go check out Stan efferding he does Thor's diet, puts out a lot of good info
