OUr Wonderful Patriot Act

"Ok... now this whole Patriot Act thing has gotten too personal!

The story:

I discovered, when attempting to E-file my taxes, that the social security people had my birthday wrong. They thought it was the 2nd, and its the 1st. a simple typo from when the card was issued. I can guarantee that my mom wrote the right birthdate on the application. She's my mom. I think she knows what my birthday is.

So, I go down to the SSA with the following:

my birth certificate
my passport
my drivers' license
my social security card
my LA Fire Department ID
even my freakin' library card.

Every single little piece of info I can think of to verify my identity.

the lady at the counter says, that while she believes me, the "security measures we're required to implement by the patriot act" require that they get the ORIGINAL microfiche of my birth certificate from LA County to verify my date of birth.

The problem here is: I was adopted. The copy of my birth certificate that I have is altered. The original records are sealed. SSA does not want to accept an altered version. They'll probably have to get a freakin' court order to open them, which, in the case of ANY adoption information, is a royal PITA and usually denied.

So... I'm grumbling about the mess, but figured it wouldn't be that big a deal, since, other than not being able to e-file my taxes, the issue hasn't caused me any trouble thus far.

HOWEVER... the lady then looks at my drivers' license and says "oh... we might have a problem here."

She tells me that now, the DMV is required to verify personal information with the SSA before issuing or renewing a drivers' license. My license expires in December. They're claiming it will take them at least six months or so to work through this mess to unravel the birth certificate issue, so, I will probably not be able to renew my drivers' license when it expires.


So, basically:

Because of the patriot act and some moron's typo, come December, I won't be allowed to legally drive a car.

someone please tell me how this is protecting America? "
 
Kerry is promising 10 million new jobs....but there is one thing I want to know:

WHERE IS HE GONNA FIND 10 MILLION AMERICAN WORKERS????

I hate to break it to you guys, but Americans are not the hard workers we like to think we are. My family owns 2 medium size business (each employees about 60 peoploe)....and we are having a hell of a time finding employees. We pay good, have one hell of a benefits package, and provide a very low stress working environemnt...but no one wants to work. The want the money though!!!
 
I've done alot of studying on this matter and most of you here hit it right on the head the dude is wishy washy(Kerry) at best, Quasi you spew the liberal/green stance against Bush it shows more of a political posture to me then issue's IMO kind of a personal dislike type thing ya know! The artillary you all use (no WMB) is bullshit they were there and they've been found weapons have been destroyed by the UN in the last several years maybe not stockpiles but they didn't get everything out or hidden, shit they had 12 freaken years to do it while the UN skated around in there.

Anyhow its in my opinion and i am NOT and Evangelical voter that kerry will bring this country down the best way he knows how and that is to effect our military just like Clinton did cutting and gouging to look good on the books military is expensive and in this day and age we better damn well have a good army, kerry is a pacifist he won't allow that to happen if in office.

If Kerry is elected, he will try to take that....and all hell is gonna break loose in this country.
 
Funny....People are passionate about there candidate no matter which side they fall. We'll see who, on the First tuesday in November after the 1st monday on november, the voters who dont post on this site choose.
 
no matter what, I will support our Commener in Chief no matter who he is. I honestly think that Bush is going to serve another 4 years. If i wanst sop hammered I would supply a more intelligent rebuttle ill wait till tromotoorrow
 
John Kerry is a fucking pussy. While in Vietnam, he received 3 "questionable" purple hearts. The last one was pretty much a blister that he claims was from shrapnel. After 3 "injuries" he was sent home...where he demonstrated against the war! On the other hand, you have someone like Olly North, who was turning down purple hearts so he could stay in Vietnam to serve his country.

IMO...Kerry is a total pussy w/ no personality. He took the easy way out and came home after some "fake" bulllshit injuries...and then protested against the war! He would not make a good president...and has many questionable ideas about how to "help" our nation. Fuck Kerry...my vote is going to Bush!

Thats a damn good post.People think that they only have to show up to work for there $$$.Lord forbid somebody makes them do something for it.I would hire a first generation Mexican over some of these kids coming out of high school.

The moderates seem to be leaning toward him, the dems have made him king, and even some of the right has came to his side. Hmm...the McCain thing might work, but bush has already publicly stated that cheney has done a good job.

The fact is, people dislike guys like bush because he's a rich, white, heterosexual man with some power to do something. The feminists and minorities are intimidated by him. We need a president that can kick ass and drink beer and BE A MAN, not some flowery pussy who tries to sweep the worlds collective problems under the rug.

The reality is, most people that call themselves dems do not vote. Bush will win again, and john kerry will slip back into obscurity.

(just a little sidebar: did anyone see that john kerry commercial where he is in 'nam and walking in his full combat gear? His arms look like two 5 foot long vanilla pipe cleaners. He had to be around 6' 115 lbs there. He was NO DOUBT an athletic, rambo, alpha male type at that hulking weight.

Ummmmm, did you mean to say "guys like Kerry"?? Cuz' everything you just said is not describing Bush. Bush is worth an estimated 15 Million...Kerry tops 1 billion. Bush can drink beer...he used to be an alcoholic. LOL.

And Bush definitely does not try to sweep problems under the rug....aren't we in Iraq and Afghanistan right now??? What did Clinton do???

Clinton did nothing except get off in the White House. Very disgraceful if you ask me. But, I don't know if I could refrain from letting someone give me head though, no matter where it was. LOL

Clinton went to war to cover up the Monica scandal. I am afraid that if John Kerry gets elected, he wouldn't do anything either. My vote is for President Bush. Not because he is a republican, but I believe he is the better man for the job. Plus I believe in a lot of the same things he does. I also disagree with a few. However, Kerry is so wishy washy you cannot tell what he blieves or disbelieves.

everytime a terrorist attacked a US installation, Clinton lobbed a few bombs into an abandoned building to "send a message". That message was "I am a pussy and will do nothing to stop you...come attack my country".

No he doesnt. He is wealthy, but not WEALTHY. His wives have been rich which is about the only place hes gotten his money from. And with the prenups involved, the money is still his wife's and not his. Aside from that, even saying that his wifes money was his, they are still not worth $1B. Its estimated that his wife is worth about $500 million. A ton of money, no doubt, but a far cry from a billion.

Actually Bob, the Kerry/Heinz income was valued at $500 Million in 1995. Many people now say that Heinz's net worth is between 900 million and $1B.

And yes, I am assuming that her money is Kerry's as he has used here money and money from second mortgages from "their" house to finance his campaigns. IMO, if he can use her money to help get him into office...then he should be labelled as a "rich, white man" as well.

i always enjoy when he takes off his tie, or rolls up his sleeves, or puts on a carhart work jacket, or any of that bullshit to make him look like he truly relates to the blue collar class.

bottom line he just does not have an opinion of his own. he is weak minded, weak willed, and I do not trust him to make crucial decisions under extreme pressure.
