Jan 6

Just would like a census. How many of you fellas feel January 6 was a nonviolent demonstration. Simple question. Just curious.

Do any of you plan on attending the peaceful gathering on the 18th of this month at the capitol?

Personally I do not feel like a protest can be violent or non-violent. Protest are insanely emotional events where generally people will get a bit out of control. It is really difficult to put protest into context.

Younger people tend to be drawn to protesting and generally I find most public dissent tends to become violent over time. The more people and the more time they are protesting the higher the odds of a violent event.

All protests are connected. They are emotional reactions to policy. Viewing one form of protest as violent or another as peaceful generally does away with the point of the protest. Every protest is against society as a whole.

That is why regardless of who you are we do have laws which need to be followed. Protest all you want, go get arrested it the spirit moves you. Remember that no matter how hard you protest or believe in your issue, we all still are on the same team.

Fixed a spelling error.

Obviously, January 6th wasn't non violent. A women was shot dead for her bad decisions.

I'm not too interested in protesting at the Capitol or anywhere else, but I'm willing to do what I have to do if society ever really does go down the shitter.

I'm not interested in going to the city and fighting for the idiots that live there. But I sure as shit will defend my spot on the top of this mountain alongside some friends and neighbors who generally feel the same way.

I truly hope it never comes to that...and anyone who wishes for civil war in our country doesn't realize what they are really asking for.

Peace @Big_paul

Stay safe and hope you're doing well.

Very unfortunate this happened historically GOP doesn't do this they just mind their own business, advocated lower taxes and regulations, simply put tell govt to fuck off. Democrats are usually the ones doing this kind of shit spreading hate and blaming others.

They are also the ones that fight for drugs to be illegal and with huge sentences, they're anti-abortion and they have fought to sensor movies and music, not sure I would say they mind they're own business

If you just search Republican Protest you can educate your mind.

Republicans are people and protest just like everyone else. Protesting is not bad. Causing riots and damage to cities and people is.

Some of the issues the Republican party has been rather well known for being involved in the protests is: Cuba, Communism, Freedom Issues, Patriot Issues, Military Families, Election Issues, anti masks issues.

If you honestly are attracted to the idea of not being involved you could get quite a bit out of Stoicism.

You talking about the 1970 Controlled Substance Act enacted by the 91st US congress where both chambers had a Democratic majority? Idk that seemed more bipartisanship at the time where Nixon was probably the most far left Republican president in history.

Idk the shit I hear in high school doesn't seem like they're doing a good job lol
Porn is still legal so what movie?

I don't care what drugs and or how many women babies abort not total agreement with them there. I'm just saying you don't see too many riots because democrats passes law that limit guns or say hey let's give the moochers free money and force workers to subsidize their lazy asses!

Well i thought this was more of a riot not a protest lol just saying this is uncommon for the GOP to act like this.

I meant the war on drugs the Reagan started. That's when jail sentences went crazy

As soon as people started entering unlawfully they should have lit them fuckers up
That would certainly be tempting, but it would have in my opinion be the worst way to respond. The leaders are the ones who should be targeted for prosecution, primarily Trump.

The fools who took part in attempted coup were nothing but mindless robots. Responding with more violence would have resulted in more civil unrest.

Thanks for your response.

I think for a lot of those folks it was a non violent protest, but there were some there with other intentions. Lay down with dogs and get fleas. I wouldn't storm a building as part of a protest, that's guaranteed to end poorly.
I agree. Many were caught up in the moment. The leaders had more in mind.

I was Republican for most of my life. I left the party for a number of reasons, but Trump made my final decision an easy one.

I agree with many points you make. There is improvement needed all around. The controlled substance act was some of the worst legislation ever passed.

I feel we should protest when we feel the establishment is stepping on our freedom, but those protests should be peaceful. One thing I know for certain is that if BLM had attacked the capitol there would have been a bloodbath.
It's not an even playing field when it comes to protests.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Why are you certain of that? How many BLM "protesters" have been killed by police in the riots?

If Blm protesters had assalted the US capital do you believe the capitol police would have allowed them to role on the capitol?

On the otherhand, a white mob was allowed to ransack the center of democracy with one shot fired at a woman climbing through a crushed window. ?

What color/demographic were the BLM protestors?

BLM rioters have attacked police, burned their cars, overran entire police stations and taken over entire neighborhoods where they declared anarchy and I don't remember the cops killing any of them. So no I don't think which political side you were on mattered
