is walking fast enough as cardio?

135HR while jogging? I get into 150-160 walking an incline. Am I overdoing it for lipolysis?? Im always soaked after an hour on the treadmill.
It varies on age. I think for mid 30s 125-140is ideal for fat burning. I like to be at 135-140 to get some benefits for cardio.

As time goes on, I need more and more of an incline to achieve that save heart rate.

15 minutes of 10 incliine at 3.3 then increase to 14 percent incline, 3.3 speed is my typical pace. I do this for 60 min. Heart rate doesn't break 140

Perfect. I’m roughly mid 30. Will be 36 in a few weeks. Thanks man. Will keep my HR lower from now on while trying to achieve maximum lipolysis with HGH.

I don't see walking as cardio, not saying it doesn't work and isn't effective.

Stair Master for me is cardio, walking is just a day to day activity that everyone does.
I think we're looking at "cardio" from different angles. Bodybuilders often think of "cardio" primarily as a tool for fat loss, and secondarily for fitness and endurance. In that view, incline treadmill walk provably works well.

For endurance athletes, treadmill walking isn't doing much. My buddy competing in iron-man think treadmill walking is ridiculous and has zero benefits - a hard 1 hour swim or a hard 4 hour bicycle trip builds his cardio. 20-30 hours a week on bicycle, running and swimming.

I walk or sprint up a hill near my home like every day, considering I have a desk job. At the gym I squeeze in 10-15 mins of cardio at end of session, on stairmaster or the bike at a good pace.
This is what I'm doing right now a bro split plus stationary bike at the end 15 min and plan to increase every 3 weeks by 10 minutes.
Seems to work good same as walking up any type of incline.

Yeah i agree

depends on both fitness level, cardiovascular performance and ur age (100% HR should be 220- AGE BPM, on average)... 160 BPM for a 20yo are very good (80%), for a 50yo they are very high (94%).

if u are a smoker it's normal for ur hear rate to ramp up quicker than predicted.

Dog walking the best cardio ever.
There are many options to do cardio.. Ever heard of LISS and HIIT? Two different types but both are good

i love mixing weighed running and running, do 5-10 slow laps with 20kg vest and 2,5kg ankle weights and then take them off and do 10-20 more BW. Best calves exercise.

I love doing treadmill and put it on the highest Gradient, walking slowly (LISS) for calves.

I also saw funny treadmill videos with weights but they were just for Entertainment

I used to do very fast 20 minutes runs (6 minute miles) in my 30s. Did long medium runs for an hour or two daily in my 20s. At 50 I'm doing a fast treadmill walk daily, 30-60 minutes, depending on time (split in two sessions). I don't think I need to run that fast anymore, and don't want to have a heart attack so the fast walking works well for me, and seems less taxing to my overall system, something I'm more cognizant of as I get older.

I might be misinterpreting your comment, but are you saying you walk fast to keep your heart healthy? Or you don't run fast anymore because you don't have a heart attack?

I walk fast to keep my heart rate up, but don't run till my heart feels like it might explode which i did when i was younger. Just purposely dialed it back.

Hello,

do you think doing fast walks is enough to get all the benefits of cardio in terms of fat loss and cardiovascular health? do you really need to martyr yourself doing spinning classes or jogging to get strong heart and lungs?
Sweat will not kill you. It will make you stronger, and help increase the good years of your life.

I walk an hour a day, nothing crazy. Just a walk around the block or treadmill at 3 incline 3 speed.

If I'm feeling lazy, I'll hop on a stationary bike. Unfortunately I'm one of the unlucky that suffers from high (HIGH) BP if I do not get in atleast an hour a day of one of these activities, but otherwise it works fantastic for myself.

Some good comments here. It is really about staying at the optimal heart rate range which for many here is between 110 and 140. 30 min of cardio at least 4X a week in this range is optimal for fat loss.

Going above the 140 range will benefit cardiovascular but not be as effective for fat loss from what I have seen and been told.

Everyone always talks about different forms of cardio but nobody really knows the best secret, lucky for you I’m part of this forum and I’ll share it with you…..

DIGGING!

Get yourself a shovel and some gloves and go out in your backyard and every day for 45 minutes work on digging a hole. After 8 weeks or so you’d be surprised at the results and then you can turn it into a swimming pool, then at that point you transfer over to swimming for cardio.
