Is my bodybuilding "career" over?

Hello.

Long story short, i have a torn ligament (complete tear) on my upper back. I was told to not train and recover for 1 to two months. After this recovery period, will i be able to lift again or is it game over? Do you know any bodybuilders or gym goers around you that recovered and resumed training well?

Thanks.

No surgery? Only 1-2 month recovery? I’m no doctor but I’m pretty sure that isn’t a bad recovery time compared to some guys that have been injured and came back to the sport once they were healed.
Surgery depends on the recovery, that's what i was told. So you say its possible to lift again? wouldn't i be more prone?

Really depends on the injury. Lots of muscles in the upper back, so depends which one. Is it no surgery because not necessary or not possible? Will it stop you training properly when healed or will you be able to train normally? And perhaps most important will it change how you look? A tear can ruin symmetry, and that could be a problem at an elite level. There are many variables, but it really depends on the detail of the injury

Not necessary at the moment, doctor want to see how recovery goes and the effect on overall movement.

I can't speak for a ligament but I've had both shoulders and my low back worked on. Can you still lift ya. If it's bad will you be the same no but im not a doctor. You will learn to work around it.

Supraspinous, sorry for not including in the original post.

That's part of the rotator cuff.

I have no experience with this but, in doing some research, I would be optimistic if I were you. It appears that surgery is the most common treatment, but it looks like the jury might still be out as to how effective it really is.

Regardless, I think it would be a bit overkill to wonder if your lifting career is over. Personally, all of the injuries I've had (albeit minor), have been good learning experiences for me on how to be a better lifter overall... Even if that just means listening to my body and doing a work around all the way up to rehabbing more effectively when I didn't listen well enough.

I really can't speak highly enough about physical therapists that specialize in sports specific injuries. I honestly wanted to continue going to see mine even after I was good to go because I had learned so much in a cool atmosphere.

I'm Humpty Dumpty. Literally changed my name two days ago. I've fallen down and broken a few times now. Fortunate enough to get put back together pretty well each time.

I'm not going to list what my ailments are, long list brah, but I know if I wanted to I could make my way to the stage with the correct nutrition and training. You'll be fine. Just rehab effectively, it's a good time for that with all this down time, too.

Good luck dude.

Thank you everyone, lets see how this recovery goes. Had this idea to combine 40mg/ed of oxandrolone to combat muscle loss and aid recovery (only found research about born victims but its the anti inflammatory effect i am looking for) but since i'm already on test 200/wk as HRT i think its redundant right?

I will say find a PT that specializes in sports and is willing to go the extra mile for your goals. If all else fails go ask the cross fit gym who they send their competitors to.

I would not use var if I were you. I have shoulder, knee and back issues and everytime I’ve used var it’s made things worse. I got the var from the clinic I get my hrt from so I know it’s not Winni

It has been almost a month, pain has subsided greatly but i cannot lift my right arm past my shoulder without having sharp pain from the right shoulder across the back. Left side is all good

Good to hear you’re on the mend. Rehab/recovery from injury is a slow and meticulous process in most cases. Be patient. Keep at it.

GH, peptides tend to speed up recovery big time. Evn just something like Mk677 helps a ton in recovery. I would definetly go for something like that. Cjc1295dac 60mcg/kg combined with hexarelin for a feew weeks then switch to ipamorelin. Watch out for prolactin and cortisol with hex though.
