I firmly believe that weight training is NOT as athletic as other sports such as basketball. Eating, resting, and resistence training are all parts of every sport, except whereas in here that's the extent of their practice, other athletes have to actually learn the movements to compete.

the only thing that makes bodybuiding different than other sports is the actual day of competition.
Go find Milos sarcev if you know who he is..pay him if you got the cash and do a good run through his gaint sets routine and then come back and say that bodybuilding is not athletic.

this is probably an unpopular opinion, but I think BB'ing is a lifestyle.
The contest / show portion is like a beauty pageant. Just not into it. Sport? No, Contest. It's a contest. Is a talent show a sport?

Actually, being "bodybuilding lifestyle" is a very common Phrase, and not just for reference, but being made as the title or part of titles in books, articles and etc. I would say that bodybuilding being viewed as lifestyle, is not only *Common, but also beginning to outweigh the idea that it is a Sport!
While the sting of the term bodybuilding is seen in the media; often being portrayed as a temporary blast "career", transforming one into being a 2-300 pound human "freak", it is being accepted everywhere else as a very healthy lifestyle, even by many universities.
Sure, by this definition, bodybuilding is a sport.

The competition isn' the training involved. That's the preparation. It's what's done on stage during bodybuilding contests. And that is what defines it as a sport.
Whether the skills involved in posing and flexing is sufficiently interesting to captivate most sports fans is another question.

bodybuilding is a sport, and equal in competition as anything else. you have a season where you prepare until the show (the big game). bodybuilding is also year round, there is no offseason like some like to call it. Just because its a different style of competition doesn't make it any less of a sport as basketball, football , ect.
