Ironlyfe80 meet prep and training log

Just finished setting my 2nd attempt for bench. Did 435. It felt really easy. I even did a paused rep for practice incase of a slow judge that doesn't give the press command quick enough.

I also did a 1 rep of 455 with the sling shot to stimulate the CNS for holding that much weight and did a 5 second hold with 475 for extra stimulation. The 455 sling shot rep was super easy, lol. Probably could hit 500 with it on. Too bad that's not a thing.

good shit my man! ill get there one day, just not today? lol
thats my year end goal, 425-435.
being a lazy ass and not wanting to look through the whole log, whats your weight class?

So what do you guys usually do after a meet? Do you take it easy a few days or take some time off, or do you come back at it hard? Im a little conflicted on what I want to do. I want to drop some body fat but I don't want to lose any of the progress I've made. Any suggestions?

take it easy this week. take the first couple days off, possibly the week. usually some body building esque stuff to get some blood flowing to the muscles. d

as far as what to do next, depends on when youre next meet is and what your physique goals are. strength will take somewhat of a hit when you lose weight, but if its done properly you can maintain and sometimes get stronger with the new leverages.

so tell us when you plan on competing next or what your time line goals are so we can help better

I haven't really decided whats next. I am only 30 lbs away from the world record in deadlift and there might be a meet on Sept 30. If I did that it would be deads only. Otherwise I dont know when the next meet would be . I would have to be clean to lift in any other federation that puts on meets close enough to me. I don't know if I am ready for that (or how I'd respond).

So I have been hitting the gym 5 days a week doing a freelance powerbuilding program. I ve been hitting deads and heavy bench with some hypertrophy work.

More exciting news.. I was able to squat with some weight on my back for the first time in 10 weeks. I only got up to 145, but its a start and the pain was super minimal.

Squats are coming back around and the groin is coming around. I'm still taking it slowly as I can slightly feel tension at depth.

Today I did 315x4x5 and 315 x 10 for my last set. I'm going to stick at 315 for a couple weeks and increase reps. I wont increase weight until I can get 315 x 20, then I'll start working back up with 365 and 405. My goal is to get back to where I was by September and then start pushing for a 600 squat..hopefully by the end of the year.
