After watching the video at the bottom of that page i honestly feel that regardless of your religion, race, culture or political stance its absolutely disgusting that this type of barbarism happens in the world today and we all sit around and watch it happen. This was one documented incident. How many more happen that you never hear about? Her crime was falling in love with a boy who wasnt of her same caste?? She deserved to get stoned to death for that?

Amnesty International, whom I despise, estimates that literally THOUSANDS of these "honor killings" take place each year and that over 90% of them take place in the middle east. This, like terrorism, is done in the name of Allah and Islam. Just another reason why the West has issues with radical Islam. This shit apparently happens all the time and you NEVER hear anyone speak out against it...at least not here in the States. It is obviously an accepted practice in many parts of the middle east.

Catholics typically don't like it when one of their own marries a Christian or a Jew and vice versa, but I've not heard of any Catholics, Christians, or Jews being stoned to death in a public street for falling in love with someone of a different religion.

I dont' know how many times I've read stories of middle eastern girls who live in the States that have done things deemed inappropriate by their families standards (smoked, drank, danced, had sex, etc.) and are aboslutely terrified to return home because they fear death from their fathers and brothers. Truly sad.

This was not done in the name of Islam, the girl was from a Yazidi family (these are not considered muslims), and she was stoned to death because she fell in love with a muslim sunni boy.

To give you more perspective, after the incident a wave of revenge attacks happened between sunni muslims and yazidis, where dozens were killed.

Did you hear someone saying Allah Akhbar in the background?, did you hear any reference from the people who did it about islam?, no, but for some reason Islam got shoved into it because she fell in love with a muslim boy.

When Virginia tech incident happened you didn't hear people blaming Christianity, although that kid referenced Jesus and he said he was becoming like Jesus etc.

I disagree OT, this was about religion and the religion in this case just happens to be Islam. Sure, the same thing would have happened had she been hanging out with a Jew, but she wasnt'...he was a Muslim. Due to her "great injustice" and disrespect to her family, her OWN FAMILY aided in her torture.

The VT is completely different IMO. Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed by muslims IN THE NAME OF ISLAM. No one blows themselves and school children up to be like Mohammad. They do it because they truly believe that it is their duty to kill non-muslims/infidels/Americans/Jews/etc. and anyone else who doesn't agree with their religion. Again, I'm basing my opinions on what we see and hear in the states...and what we hear comes from Muslim/Arab sources in their respective countries. OT, I'm by no means an apologist for Christians, Jews, and Catholics...they are responsible for millions of deaths over the centuries and are by no means "clean". However, the western world is just now starting to see the barbaric way of life and barbaric actions of the radical muslims in the world. 7 years ago, few Americans knew the sorts of things that went on in you part of the world and even fewer probably knew how such torturous and barbaric actions were quietly permitted.

The VT killer was a social outcast for years who completely lost it. He was depressed and mad at the world. He did not kill in the name of Christianity. He never said that the Bible told him it was his duty to kill 32 innocent people. He never said that Jesus made him do it.....he was just fucking crazy. And while an innocent person dying is tragic no matter how it occurs, IMO there's a big difference in shooting someone versus dragging them into the street while a mob takes turns kicking them in the face, throwing rocks at them, and then smasing their head in with a 30 pound cinder block.

OT, since you live in the middle east, I'm very interested in your personal opinion on these "honor killings". How common are they? Are there certain countries where they are more common place than others? Amnesty International claims they are very common and are very prevalent in parts of Afghanistan and Pakistan. I'm assuming because of the Taliban. Are these things swept under the rug in your part of the world or is there a voice of condemnation?

They are common in Jordan and Pakistan from what I've heard. Mainly, in poor countries, and it is common in the less educated socities.

Just to clarify Kays, the people who were kicking the girl were *not* muslims, they were Yazidis. The incident had no relation to Islam whatsoever, it was by a Yazidi group to a girl (I can't say for sure if she was still yazidi or she convered to her boyfriend's religion).

For the VT case, it is 100% relevant. You say he was a social outcast, and that was what most of sucide bombers were. The fact is that they either come very poor/uneducated families or they were lunatics living in their own heads.

If you lived in the middle east and seen how much oppression and shit is going on you will know that there is a lot more to it than what the media says. I really can't put it in perspective for you if you didn't live it yourself, I know the US very well, and I know exactly why you can't see it. My side of the world is just very different.

Fair enough, I respect your opinion and take on things. You live in the middle east, so I'll take you for your word. With respect to the oppression in the middle east, I would assume that the fact that the middle east is full of oil and that a small percentage of the officials are getting filthy rich adds to the frustrations. I know people here in the states like to bash the rich and the oil companies, but by and large most americans are doing okay financially and are not living in filthy conditions. Despite popular belief, the US does take fairly good care of those less fortunate. It's got to be a hard pill to swallow when a Saudi who is barely getting by sees one of the Crown Princess' on TV showing off their 400 foot yacht or their car collection worth $50 million. A few weeks ago, they were showing the lifestyles of like the 20 richest people in the world and a couple of them were Arabs. They toys they had made me sick...and I'm an American who is used to seeing flashy things. It'd be nice to see some of these royal families take better care of their people, especially when they are sitting on trillions of dollars in oil.

Amen. The thing that is fucking up the middle east the most is the abuse of its resources by the minority. Royal families are acting is if they actually own the countries they are in, not representing them and working to make them better. Our current king (Abdullah) seems to be the only sincere guy we've had in decades from what I can tell, but he is surrounded by corruption, and he can't fix all things by himself.

We fight the same thing here in the states, just on a smaller scale. I don't understand how a politician (be they republican or democrat) can claim he wants to fight for the working man/woman when he himself is worth about $300 million.

John Edwards, a democratic presidential candidate, gave a speech a few weeks back at the University of California Davis where he talked about the rising cost of a college education and how important it is to educate our young people. He says if he's elected president he will lower the cost of a top notch college education so that everyone can afford to go to college. Ironically, his speaking fee at UC Davis was $55,000 plus all expenses paid for his staff. Now how can you claim to be fore lowering the cost of education and then charge an educational institution $55,000 for an hour speech.

They're half human.
"Alot" of these arab/lPersians look like zombies when you look them in the eye,you can tell they are missing some some human traits i.e compassion, empathy, forgiveness.
People are capable of anything,as long as they can justify it in their own mind.

What they believe in, it's fucked up, but they think it's right, not bad in any way , like THE GOOD JUST THING TO DO

LMMFAO! I see your anti-racism only extends as far as black people. Don't worry, most people who will bash another for being racist are actually racist in some regard. You're normal.

The bitch got what she deserved for not doing as her menfolk told her! :p

Hey, I'm just trying to identify with other cultures. I'm a regular multi-culturalist.

If you're going to try and insult someone, you should learn the definition of the words you use, so as not to appear like a fool.

Furthermore, learn how to discern humor, you cock goblin!

Just for the sake of being fair i must say that most people (NOT ALL but a good majority) in the middle east dont seem to be mind violence for the most part.
The muslims, yezidis as well as the jews.I mean have you seen the jews that live in the US? Most of the ones that i have met are generally good people who are very stingy but they dont bother anyone.Compare them with the israeli jews. The whole area is like that regardless of the peoples religion.
I guess if you live in an area like that you have to be like that to a certain extent in order to survive.

Jeez griz. It just sounded insensitive that's all. Didn't mean to get your nuts in a rut. I wasn't TRYING to insult you. Just your comments, cuz they were kind of dumb considering the smiley with the toungue out. And DO SOME MORE RESEARCH ON FACIST CUZ YOU KNOW NOTHING OBVIOUSLY.
