Injection Question

OK bros - tomorrow I am going to be doing my first injection, 200mg of test cyp. My first shot they did at the doctors office. I am going to go for my quad area - anything I need to remember, other than checking to make sure I am not in a vein? How far does the needle go in (it's an 1.5")?

What kinda doctor sends you home with some needles/syringes and a vial of test without providing directions/instruction? The pharmacist didn't help either?

All the way to the hub with the needle, asperate and then slowly inject the fluid into the muscle, try to rotate the quads. P.S it helps me to pinch a big ball of muscle between my fore finger and thumb and push the needle in quickly. good luck bro!

I got some direction from the nurse - but just wanted to see what everyone had to say. It's been almost two weeks since the visit and I just wanted to see if I was missing anything. The pharmacy was in left field on this one - I am sure I am the only one that ever walked out there with a case of pins and a vial of depo-test. It's a real small family ran pharmacy in a very small town. It took 3 days to get the test in.

Jay, there are good instructions along with pictures at spotinjections.com. I use a 1 1/2" needle in the quad. Thinking about doing it is much harder than doing it!
yea u keep saying that.... once i got to needle in my hand rdy to do it i hand it back to my mom.... i'm a girlyman...........................

Wow.. I've never heard of a doctor that allows his patients to administer their own HRT... There is a big difference between giving yourself an allergy shot and giving yourself 1-2ml of an Oil based IM compound...

alot of people give their own shots....he will see if i'm using it like a steriod cycle from my blood test........my mom is a nurse and the same hospital ....... so he had all the faith in her to do it..... but i want to learn myself how to do it ...i can;t run to the doctor every week to do it....and my mom wont always be there........

Same here - blood tests, and if I go back in to see him in two months and say oh yea I need a refill. I'll doubt I get it. At HRT doses one vial will last me about 5 months.

Been doing my own HRT shots for over two years with 10 minutes of instruction from a nurse.

Wow.. There is only two doctors localy who will even do HRT and they require that you come in and receive your shots from them, they also require REGULAR blood work.

I think they are fearful people will abuse the drug so they just do it themselves.. or they are simply looking to get as many office visits as possible...

THis is interesting to learn though..

There is a big difference between the two shots - you are right. I did my first IM last night and it wasn't really that bad. Overall easier than a subq I thought. I was always afraid of going too deep with the subq. The worse part about the IM and the depo-test is the oil. You just have to take your time and go slow injecting the oil. Other than that - not a drop of blood at all. First shot was a success.

Phreezer,

When my doc told me that he'd allow me to self-administer, I was a little surprised, too. The thought of "Man, I could just use as much as I want!" came up, but it doesn't work that way. My doc allows me to get 400mg per month of Test Cyp (2 1mL bottles of 200mg/mL Depo-Testosterone) and nothing more than that. I could shoot that 400mg all at once, but I would have nothing left for the remaining 3 weeks. Additionally, he's monitoring my lab work, so even if I was getting "excess" benefit from the HRT, he'd spot it immediately and drop my dosages. If I don't show up for lab work, I lose my self-administration priveledges.

Now that HCG is in the picture, too, I do 3 injections per week. If I had to drive to the doctor's office 3 times (Test Cyp 1x, HCG 2x) per week, I don't know if HRT would be worth all of the hassle!

hehehe.....i went to the pharm and they just gave me a 10ml vile at 200mg/ml....wow they must really trust me.....as for going back to the doc for every shot..... i think there out to make some extra money........ i just performed my first shot myself and it wasn't as bad as i thought it would be....my doc even told me how to do it and gave me some needle tips so i could draw faster then with the 25 gauges i use......the hard part was getting my hand to stop shaking lol................

Personally, I've had a much harder time finding a doctor that will let me do allergy shots at home. After a decade of searching, I think I may have found one (or rather, I have heard that this person has let at least somebody else do the injections at home). I need to make an appointment and give it a go still.

Just did my first injection this past week. Wife did my first two in the glutes. I'm going to rotate left glute, right glute, left thigh, right thigh. I decided to do the thigh ones myself to practice in case she's out of town.

My tricks for the first one: mood music (I used Motograter :D ), and then a 1,2,3 GO approach, counting to myself. Much easier and less painful than I thought it would be.
