i'm on prednisone- any info please

i was put on prednisone last week;i've been on for 10 days. can i just stop? i know you should come off slow do to the fact that your adrenal glands are suppressed but i was only on for 10 days? i was put on because of a bad sinus infection but the drug is making me depressed and i want nothing to do with it. of course i will consult with my doctor but i want some opinions as well/

nuff said. this stuff will screw you up more than it will help you but you can't stop taking it now that you've started.

10 days is the cut-off point for tapering a corticosteroid. anything less there is no need to taper. prednisone is not like an antibiotic, you don't have to finish the course, but it is best to follow your doctors advice. if its just for a sinus infection, it doesn't sound like you need it for more than 10 days anyway. you could ask to switch to one of the steroid nasal sprays instead to keep your nose open, there is very little systemic absorption so side effects are minimal.

When I was put on it I was given a 6-day pack and used it all.. I have a hearniated disk between c3 & c4 so I wasnt lifting at the time anyway... but man.. it worked for me immediately and I could finally get some sleep! (along with the help of some pain killers)

Yes.. Mine was a 6 day taper pack that went from about 8 pills from day 1 down to one pill on day 6.. ( cant remember exactly)

Also, prednisone is methyl-ated, so dont take any methyl-ated AAS. My father had a kidney transplant, so he is on prednisone for life.
