Hunting Season!!

Set clock for 4:55. I'm 20mins from my hunting area.
Snooze until 5:05.
Turned off the alarm, "I'll lay here for just a sec"
Woke up at 6:20. :(

There's always tonight. Moon phase puts a major at sundown the next few days.
 
Moved my climber to a newish spot. I don't normally hunt it. I've got a feeder down there, but only fill it late winter and into the summer. Don't ask why. The area I live doesn't produce monster bucks. No farms, it's warm... Any way. Had a couple nice doe stroll through at 80 yds. So I used a bleet thinking I could get them into bow range. To which they could care less... Anyway about 30 mins before dark the biggest buck I've ever seen locally pops out. Fucking huge!!!! 10point basket rack, chocolate body. Probably 3-4 years old. I'm freaking. No grunt call with me so I tried to bleet him closer, he's right on the woods line at 85ish yds. He'd look when I bleeted but didn't give a shit. He stood there and ate. Then turn and walked back into the woods. His profile as he turned was epic. Massive shoulders, big wide ass.. he's totally the alpha buck around here. I normally don't take bucks...he's on the hit list. Here's a pic, crap cell phone pic and I was shaking. The pic doesn't do it justice, it's 85yds. Those are all old growth hard woods, about 2.5' accross IMG_20170929_191552.jpg

Hope so. Wonder what his pattern is...I maybe can get a little farther down in there on my climber, but I'm pushing it. It's 4 valleys that to together, the wind does weird stuff, there's no pressure but they'll still roll if they smell you.

Early season bowhunting is frustrating to say the least. Warm temps, crazy winds, animals transitioning into fall patterns, etc. Hard to not make a move on him but you screw up he's in the next state :(.

Here's to you blowing a hole in both sides of him and having a 20 yard bloodtrail:cool:

Thanks man. I know. I'll go in tomorrow afternoon around 330-400 and see if I can't move some. But I don't want to freak him. He's not on any pics, from 3 different cameras, but I can't imagine that's the first time he's come around.

I didn't go. We did get a cold front to push in, but we had near 20mph winds, that hardwood bottom hard to hide a scent. Hopefully I can get back in there Wednesday. I don't want to push him or get winded.

Well I saw him again tonight. 75ish yards. He was down wind. I tried to grunt him in. He winded me, blew and hauled. He got up on the ridge above us and wheezed like crazy....he was PISSED!
