Surprised to see the boating accident joke go over so many heads, expected a higher percentage of firearms enthusiasts here for some reason.
I have lots of oils, and one of my concerns is that since a modest portion of my oils come from Stan, I might have issues due to how generously he fills his vials. Even when stored perfectly upright, the oil makes contact with the stoppers, and I know that over time this will be an issue, especially when we're talking many years of storage. 85% or more of what I have is in MCT, so oxidation risk should be minimized due to it being a fully saturated oil. I'm thinking of getting a bunch of high quality 100cc vials and filling them almost to the stopper, and using that method to store Stan's stuff, but part of me thinks that might be risky too. I can't articulate why, beyond the "all your eggs in one basket" type of fear being at play. A few vials going bad vs a 100cc vial going bad. Still, the oil contacting the stoppers needs to be addressed or I'll likely lose a good amount of gear. I've switched to using everything I can that's from him, so I'll be going through it, but not fast enough.
How long, approximately, should I expect these particular vials to stay good before the stoppers start to swell?
