Umm, he was quoting vintage so were I to consider early vintage, then:
Foghat
Kiss
Steve Miller Band
Foreigner
Lynrd Skynrd
Boston ( the "boogie band")
Blue Oyster Cult
I know I am missing something in there.
If you were talking newer, then Van Halen has to be considered since they made a huge impact on the music scene.
Later on, fuck, who knows, I mean, lets define later I suppose......you have people out there who believe Motley Crue was the shit, somebody younger would say Metallica, somebody younger might say Poison and all the other hair bands......Bon Jovi would probably get thrown in the mix too......it really depends on age.
Personally, I think the Offspring were the greatest band ever created but then again, I'm biased and since we cant include the Brits, that leaves out my Oi favorites.
There is one band that I am not thinking of right now but they were epic for years.....wish I could remember.
And of course the ghetto-inclined folk of this board might say RunDMC, Dougie Fresh, and Lisa Lisa but we're not talking about hood rat music in this thread
