Fruit and fat gain

At my bjj gym, these guys eat acai berries mixed with creatine all day long. And there are some cut motherfuckers at my gym. So I have no idea.

The problem with fruits is the fructose, which causes the hardcore insulin spikes. You just have to be careful about how you time these. If you're pounding down fruit all day and not training, your gut is going to grow.

Being honest, I haven't been training hard this year and I haven't adjusted my eating much to compensate for the reduced level of activity BUT the issue I'm having isn`t just like normal fat gain around the middle. My stomach is actually hard/bloated/distended as though it's filled with gas and I think it's all the fruit coz that's the only thing I've done differently this year.

Some sort of acid/sugar reaction maybe? I'm quitting fruit for a couple of weeks and lowering my water intake to see if things calm down but I might have to go and see my GP if things don't improve coz I'm getting a bit worried about this tbh...

Fruit sugar, coupled with our slowing metabolism....yeah man, that would do it.

Excess calories cause fat gain... not calories from fruit... especially in moderation.

That being said... my favourites are pineapple, pomegranates, blueberries, and grapefruit (with Splenda).

We all know that fruit is amazing for vitamins and health but also high in sugars so at what point does it become a dietary problem that can cause fat gain?

How much fruit do you eat daily and what fruits do you consume regularly?

I've been a pineapple fanatic (once daily) for about 6-12 months but I think it's fucking me up and distending my stomach and I really think bananas aren't good for me anymore either. I eat a sour green apple (granny smiths) about 3-5 times a week too.

theres basically a limit to how much fructose your body can use within a day, its assumed to be around 50-70g fructose a day from what ive heard. Remember that most fruits are a combination of fructose and glucose though so you can eat a fair amount without having to be concerned about any negative health effects from fructose.

This is where the issue of liquid calories like high fructose corn syrup comes in for example. Its easy to ovedo the 50-70g a day of fructose if you a guzzling down that garbage.

Fun fact, some fructose with your glucose-rich carb source helps replenish more glycogen faster. Its why you often find a combination of both in carb drinks.

Personally im a big fan of all fruits and usually consume 200-500g a day depending on where im at with my calories.

Have you ever had any stomach issues from fruit and what's your opinion about eating a portion of fruit 3 times every day with meals?

Do you have any knowledge or input about "food combining" ?

Actually man it’s not that it spikes insulin anymore than dextrose it’s that fructose isn’t stored as muscle glycogen like we want

yeah, fructose has less of an insulin response compared to glucose as well

Nope, no issues. However much a portion is, it sounds great to me.

no input on "food combining", not sure what you even mean by this. Combine whatever foods you want. In terms of combining fats and fructose/carbs in general, i wouldnt promote doing that.

Post your current diet

I'm not on a set/strict diet atm and I don't need your advice.

I`ve eaten smart for about 20 years and I've manipulated macros to suit cycles I was on and gains wanted etc.

The question is....why did you feel the need to call me an idiot in this thread?

Well if you post a food log we might able to pinpoint where your bloating is coming from. I doubt it is the fruit causing the problem. Have you ever had any allergies to fruits before?

R u trolling right now?

You’re not bloated because of fruit you idiot, what else are you eating in a day? 101% chance it’s something you’re eating outside of the fruit,

but then again you might be a chimpanzee with a bloated belly that eats bananas all day.

Sorry I don’t come off a soft as your lady’s bottom

Bro...STFU.
You're tedious and boring.
Contribute some constructive opinions about the topic or go and find another thread to be an asshole on.

You're blocked/ignored now BTW. I've wasted 5 minutes of my life talking to you already that I'll never get back but that's all you're ever gonna get from me.

Goodbye.

Posting a daily food log would be very time consuming bro but I appreciate your reply/advice.

I'm low carb/minimal fat/moderate protein atm. Booze is an issue with me though tbh but it's never bothered me before.

Fruit is the only variable that changed in the last 6-12 months.
