I think we’ll be just fine. Any internet community that gets large enough will eventually have an in-group and a group of tasteless animals and useless reply guys.

As long as we remain hostile enough towards those who don’t belong while keeping the platform fun and useful for those who do belong we’re safe from getting redditified

I do what I can. It's frustrating to see the internet be destroyed this way.

Stupid behavior is rewarded now. When I grew up we got told to stop being lazy and figure things out yourself, or to read a tutorial. If you asked nicely, someone might have helped you.

These people come out in droves, demand instant answers and solutions, and when you try to explain something to them they make tard comments like "I ain't reading all of that".

I can't even comprehend how someone can be so lazy that every single "sentence" has 3 acronyms, has zero effort and zero quality. It's basically just brain vomiting random noise onto the internet.

And in this case it's discord/telegram or wherever they destroy the place. I kid you not, if you look at those channels, they join and within 1 second they go "PRICELIST???". Just waiting to be served by someone. Even though there are like 100 reminders in the channel already that they could have just easily read.

They have no effort in making themselves a better person in any way, it's just instant dopamine fixes that only matter to them.

I want to be proven wrong on all of this so badly but it's not looking good.

I've been seeing that often anymore. "You are a loser for spending time on a forum. Just answer me lazy fucker so I, who am obviously a better person than any of you can go on and live my meaningful life." They are literally asking a question and then putting down every active member by responding to the no spoon-feeding comments. it's so silly

Well put, I am constantly changing sides between being a utopist, and someone that wants to see these these maggots crushed with an iron fist, because they are proof that a real democrazy [sic!] will never work.

Interesting take, I never looked at it from this perspective.

ikr wth

Guessing it's just that admin using another angle to salvage as much of the customer base as possible? The whole thing seems sketch to me, and while I've lurked here and other places for a LONG time, I'm still a noob so who knows.

I don't like the idea of gatekeeping, but I think that link on the SSA TG is a little too much and given the user base I'd agree that it's probably not a good thing. That admin will be spearheading the new source stuff here I'm sure (based on what we see already) and they sure as hell aren't doing it out of their good graces. That just screams of BS, but whatever, time will tell I suppose.
