For those filtering oils - who's using sterile filters, and who's not?

Hello,

I saw a thread here where members were talking about filtering their oils, and one guy was asking what filters he recommends, and a specific filter was mentioned. I looked it up on Amazon, and saw that they are not sterile filters. I looked on the reviews, and saw reviews from people using it to filter their TRT oils. This surprised me and led me to wonder if these guys are really just *not* caring, and using non-sterile filters (maybe to save money, or just don't know better?), or are they sterilizing the filters themselves?

FWIW, I filter all my peptides and will definitely be filtering my oils too (just starting on my testosterone optimization journey), as I've personally seen contamination issues in many peptides I've received from China, so I know better. I, of course, only use sterile filters.

On the thread I mentioned above, @oldage mentions he “pops the stoppers with a bottle opener and filters into new", but why do you need to "pop the stoppers" instead of just using a needle? Thanks for the information, I'm just curious.

First post here, which is maybe why I can't reply on that thread directly.

U dont need to pop the stoppers. But why wouldn't you is the question I would ask? Way easier, faster, and your refiltering. You should be working in a sterile environment and any particles picked up from the air you are filtering out. Everything is injected into a sealed sterile vial.

Stainless steal work station, 70% Iso alcohol, nitrile gloves, and who doesnt have some leftover face masks lying around. Ok, the last thing I am joking about. No face masks.

Oh and dont buy your supplies from amazon. Medical supply companies. That way u can get your sterile filters. And yes, always sterile filters.

Fyi, se filters can be sterilized but they will specifically say autoclave safe.

Thanks for the reply. Yep, I'm aware that there are filters that are safe for autoclave :-) About the "popping the top", are you just dipping the luer lock syringe right into the vial then? Or using a blunt tip, low gauge needle? Just wondering how that significantly speeds up your workflow. Glad you are using sterile filters. I wonder if those on the amazon reviews for the non-sterile bulk filters are using them straight up, or sterilizing them. I think there's actually a lot of people out there that just don't know better, or don't care. Even my sister who is a nurse, I had to school her on the importance of filtering her Chinese peptides. Some people I guessare just too trusting or think they are impervious to bacteria (or what not) She even thought I was a germaphobe, so she licked my phone! She's lucky I frequently sanitize my phone

If you filter your peptides then you should know almost every company that sells sterile filters..also sells them unsterile. It's pretty much the same price. Most of them post the sterile and unsterile options in the same listing, hence you see both reviews on Amazon.

Poping the vial cap off using a vial cap remover takes less than 5 seconds. Backfill into a 10ml LL syringe and off you go.

Cobetter sells direct on Amazon, sometimes it's even cheaper than via their website. Just make sure you are actually buying form them, not some random reseller.
