Hold it , stop the presses here. i hope you dont mean Rhodes and Hendrix included?

now i know everyone's got their own tastes and whatnot and i am one of the biggest hendrix fans myself - i've got all his albums including a studio bootleg of him and john mclaughlin on which mclaughlin just tears him apart completely. hendrix's tone is awesome though, very reminiscent of roy buchanon's. god only knows what he, hendrix, would be doing today if he were still around.

but i've seen gilbert a few time, in a few different musical contexts (a guitar clinic, with his cover band, with racer x and with mr, big - hey, my chick had tickets and the show was pretty good...) and, i swear, he did all the hendrix stuff and went way beyond that as well; i doubt hendrix would be doing anything close to paul even if he was around today. you guys really need to check out gilbert or greg howe live to see what these fuckers are all about.

now, i loved randy in the early '80's but when i personally surpassed his playing, my admiration of him kinda went south. he was a good guitar player, but that's about it...

Gilbert is great but there are guitar players that have paved the road and guitarist that walk down the paved road . Id like to hear the Mclaughlin/Hendrix bootleg but i never have. I got the one Hendrix and Jim Morrision done with Johny Winter on it also but there all stoned to the point it sux. For the time limit both Jimi and Randy had they will always be remembered as two of the best ever i dont care who comes down the pipe.

Fact is there aint alot of new stuff that can be done with a guitar that Hendrix or Rhodes aint done already that realy stands out as a trademark guitar style.

All that guitar talk and no Steve Vai??
Shame on you all.
If you get the chance..\
Check out the new G3 tour
Vai
Malmsteen
and Satriani
Crazy show
Peace

'...there are guitar players that have paved the road and guitarist that walk down the paved road.'

excellent point and it shows the respect that these guitarists truly deserve.

i disagree. hendrix and rhoads never came even close to achieving the speed, dexterity and clarity of gilbert. and paul does it with as much 'feel' as either jimi or randy, imho. the guy is a monster and greg howe is equally so. check out a couple of his cd's.

also ftw, if you like shoot me a pm and i'll gladly burn you a copy of the hendrix/mclaughlin studio bootleg. killer sound, great guitar tones and excellent studio production.

Kewl Beans Chip on the bootleg even if we dont agree on who the worlds best axe slinger is we still have the right to think what we want. And yeah the Racer X stuff is kick ass but Gilbert soulda thought twice b4 he joined Mr Big cause the musical talent that band had to put out the buble gum it did was sad IMO. I got a live Thin Lizzy with Gary Moore on guitar ill trade u out on the Hendrix bootleg if u wana. And again thx for the 411 on the pickups, checking prices right now.

Peace

BTW was thinking to myself wouldnt it be kewl to start a Meso band and all the musicians be all ripped and shit. And finding a Drummer wouldnt be that hard cause drummers are not musicians IMO there just pizza delivery guys that hang around musicians :D

we can't agree on everything all the time. i can live with that. i totally agree with what you said about mr. big but, you know, those cat had to make money. and i think they made a shitload. it just goes to show you how fucked-up the industry is... btw, i've seen sheehan with talus about 20 years ago at l'amours. what a fucking show! when gilbert and sheehan joined forces, i couldn't wait for the cd. when i heard it, i damn near cried..

i'll burn that disc for ya, just gotta find it, and would love the live lizzy bro. many thanks. i'll let you know when it's ready.
