ALABAMA (9) - Safe for Bush. GOP Sen. Richard Shelby cruising to fourth term.
ALASKA (3) - Bush's for sure. Appointed GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski and former Democratic Gov. Tony Knowles in a very competitive race.
ARIZONA (10) - Bush territory despite an early Kerry play. GOP Sen. John McCain on track for 4th term. A top target of Democrats, first-term GOP Rep. Rick Renzi still favored.
ARKANSAS (6) - Leans Bush's way, although Bill Clinton campaigning in his home state for Kerry in the race's final days. Democratic Sen. Blanche Lincoln easing into a second term.
CALIFORNIA (55) - No competition for Kerry. Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer in the clear for a third term. Only one of 53 House districts is competitive, and Democrats are favored to hold it.
COLORADO (9) - Leans Bush despite strong Kerry effort. Democratic Attorney General Ken Salazar and businessman Peter Coors in competitive Senate race for an open GOP seat. Salazar's brother, John, slightly favored to win an open Republican House seat.
CONNECTICUT (7) - Part of Kerry's New England base. Democratic Sen. Chris Dodd will win a fourth term. GOP Reps. Christopher Shays and Rob Simmons face stiff challenges in a presidential year.

GEORGIA (15) - Part of Bush's Southern base. Rep. Johnny Isakson a strong favorite over Democrat Denise Majette for the Senate. First-term GOP Rep. Max Burns faces a strong challenge from John Barrow in a district that favors Democrats.
HAWAII (4) - Probably Kerry despite GOP decision to send out Vice President Dick Cheney for last-minute campaigning. Democratic Sen. Daniel Inouye tacking a new term onto a career that began in 1962.
