For the life of me I cannot get dried beans to become soft. They ALWAYs are hardish and crunchy.

i have tried 6 different ways to cook them.

i even tried different size beans; Large beans to split pea beans(small)

They do not seem to get over a certain consistency of somewhat crunchy and hard still, not even close to like canned beans, which are so soft.

anybody have any luck? I am looking to get dried beans(goya) to the softness of canned.

I thought boiling them on the stove always does it.
No. Thats what the directions say. But it never works. I even boiled them for 2 hours.

the instructions says boil then simmer for 45 min or let sit in water over night.

doesnt work

This can be a problem that occurs when the beans or peas are old.
You might want to think about getting an electric slow cooker. They are cheap and work great for peas and beans.

You have to soak them (rehydrate), like said, about 24 hours. Lentils you can get away with just boiling.

I have one. So keeping the beans in a crock pot with water all day?

Still no luck tried yellow split peas, they were not soft, not close. Soaked for 48 hours.
