No it cause my dumb butt didn't read the instructions to know that the temp regulated off the probe. So everytime I'd raise rhe probe my solution shot straight uo to hell, and I couldn't figure out why.. when I finally did it pissed me off so bad I threw the SOB away.. its a decent machine

I found the chart... Membrane Filter Chemical Compatibility Chart
It deals with chemical compatibility not temperatures. I did a web search on temperatures for Nylon syringe filters and came up with various values from 50*C to 100*C, with 60*C being most common. 60*C is 140*F. I'm guessing (as I haven't brewed yet) that a hotplate set to 170*F is going to heat the liquid to somewhat less than 170*F but seems like it may get close to the specified limit.
I guess it's incumbent upon the user to check the specifications of the specific brand in use.

Has anyone ever steriled bottle top filters in an autoclave before? My dumbass bought non sterile and didn’t realize it. If so let me know how it went.

Also does anyone have any leads on sterile bottle top filters in the US? I know where to get them across the river, but didn’t want to wait a month. Specifically PTFE or nylon

I use a electric pressure cooker and use the canning setting for 2 hrs, the di dry heat sterilization in an table top oven.. I put ten fool over the botrle.in the oven.. even so I just do that for storage and still syring filter the gear into sterile vials. Good luck on bottletop filters in the us..

I was going to try to steam sterilize them and fuck them up I’m sure. Yea I’m seeing how rare they are in the US

What i do know now is get 100lm sterile vials and syringe fikter into those for storage.. then when I need to vial up some into smaller vials I grab a 100ml suck it up and syringe filter it again into small vials.. double filtered that way for extra caution

Hey, some of the pros in the Underground sell a big volume with floaters so can't be that bad. ;-)
What temp were you filtering at? Do you have another batch you can try at 60*C?
Edit: Maybe re-filter what you have at a lower temp and get the little dots out too.

I have definantly filtered shit to hott... best thing to do is throw that shit away... you have melted the membrane into your gear... refiltering will not clear all that shit out... I mean pribly won't kill you but, use at your own risk.. 50-70 c I would think is about right..
