Dangerous Dogs

Lol..."beside" me...I see them charging towards me and I'm outta there.
You'd never be able to outrun them and running only makes them want to attack more.

You pick up a weapon and face them head on, like any apex predator once you turn you back that's when they strike.

I own 2 pits and both are friendly dogs, but the problem with any pit is they can get into what’s called a frenzy, and when they tear into something there is no calling them off by command, they keep going
That Frenzy is what makes them so dangerous. Once they clamp down they don't let go even if you hack them with a machete.

Like mentioned, fantastic breed if you want to watch two dogs try to kill each other because this breed will do that, but lousy breed if you have a small child that doesn't understand that the slightest thing can set them off.

And of course there is a distinct difference between male and female pitts. The males are more aggressive. Whenever someone has a nice lovable pitt it's almost always a female.

Disagree there on that one. The dog is known for protecting small children and being loving to them

Why has this breed killed so many children?

Why just a few months ago did two pitbulls maul a young women so badly that she had to have both her arms amputated and they tore her guts out so she has to wear a colostomy bag for the rest of her life?

I used to be a competitive cyclist and was out on the road everyday about 50-60miles. I had a holster strapped to the headtube on my bike because I road back country roads to avoid traffic.

Two breads caused me more problems than any. Pitbulls by far were the most dangerous and chows. I used to have two pitbulls that would wait for me to climb a hill and then run in for the attack that was until I shot one and the other got the message and from there on out when that other pitbull would see me coming he would run away as fast as possible.

Google Pitbull chews off arm. Children and mostly women that have lost arms to these pile of shit dogs.

I wouldn't even need to carry a firearm when I'm out going for a walk if it weren't for dogs, but that's what I'm stuck with.

For me it's simple, the owner of the dog needs to be put to sleep just like the dog that attacks people.

I think that really depends on at what age the dog/child were introduced to each other and raised as a family/pack within a home and the child being taught to treat a dangerous dog with respect (and vice versa for the dog).

A child could just be playing/teasing the dog or running around the house doing what kids do and making the dog excited and something as simple as that could easily trigger prey drive in some breeds.

Once the dog is in chase-attack or defence-avoidance mode.....that's when things get out of control if there's no responsible adult owner around to take control of the dog and calm it down.

There's a big difference between dangerous and aggressive so I'm not saying pitts etc are all bad dogs but there's better choices for a family pet if you've got babies/young kids.

Exactly.

There's nothing wrong with a cute little dog that will keep the family entertained.

Even large breeds like Great Danes are really people dogs, they are even tempered as long as you make them apart of your family and don't do like people do which is stick them in the backyard and forget about them.

Assuming it's you are talking about a nanny dog. I happen to disagree with the term nanny dog.

There are some large dogs that fit the category of protecting small children. with the term as guardian dogs. Unfortunately pit bulls are not one of them.

Any dog can love kids. My dogs love kids and they are little shits to other dogs and some people.

Don't get me wrong I don't have anything against the breed, I love dogs. I cry when I see a dog die, not when people die because humans are piece of shit.

You can raise a dog to be anything typically. Some have stronger personalities than others. If you could imagine the first domesticated dog that came from a wolf.... Look where that lineage came down to? Your sweet family loving golden retrievers.

A lot of pits are mistreated by idiots that own them as a status symbol, I’ve found that dogs typically chained to trees are mean dogs. Funny enough, black labs are the breed I’ve been bit by on a few occasions and labs don’t have that reputation usually

I'm not sure about India.

Where I live it's legal to shoot a dog that threatens human or livestock, as long as you're outside of city limits.

If you're inside of city limits the smart choice is a high powered pellet pistol as that will get a dog off you real quick. I've shot pitbulls and other breeds like a chow that have come in on me and they yelp and screech running off when you point blank them with a pellet pistol, except that chow that was completely crazy that used to chase me. I got the point where I wanted to kill that dog.
Where do you live that you have as multiple run ins with multiple dog breeds coming after you?

I live in one of the biggest cities and in the suburbs of said city in the US and have never had an issue.

I have multiple dog training certs although I don’t actively use them for my career. I didn’t enjoy “dog training” the years I did it bc it was more like people training than dog training. People lie, dogs do not.

I have to disagree with some of the comments of others on this thread. The idea that it’s all about how you raise them is just not true.

Dogs are wolves that have been genetically manipulated by humans over thousands of years. They are gmo. A chihuahua (Mexican adt) and a Great Dane (compensation for small penis) are the exact same species, and only bc we made them so.

This genetic manipulation is done for behavioral traits as well as physical. Asserting that “it only matters how you raise them” is demonstrably false, as any canine expert would acknowledge.

Sight hounds chase at high speed. You don’t have to train it. It is in their blood. Border collies herd. You don’t have to train it. It is in their blood. Pit bulls are dog aggressive. Bully breeds have attitudes that allow them to take risk to assert physical dominance in a way other breeds do not typically.

It’s very true certain breeds get a bad rap bc the people who tend to get them are egregiously irresponsible pet owners who do everything wrong. Also the consequences of actions with some animals vary extremely from other breeds.

Example, I would regularly greet and pet a pit bull in a public setting without asking the owner if it was ok. I can tell from the dog if it’s cool or not. Pits are rarely people aggressive. However I would never consider petting a chihuahua without asking first. Bc they bite a lot. The difference is significant in the consequence of a bite.

I have personally owned only two dogs as an adult. They are both gone now. My last was my rottie who passed at 12yrs old last spring. He’s buried in my backyard now and I’ll love him til the day I die.

It does matter “how you raise them” but less than you’d think. Really most canine pets in America are under stimulated, and given poor nutrition. People who live in apartments, working 50hrs a week, used to come to me with their huskies and complain their dogs would pull them on leash when they were trying to walk them for the 30 minutes they’d get out a day.

I used to dream of doing the Iditarod as a child after reading Jack London too many times. Anyway, I respectfully disagree that when it comes to dogs it’s nurture, not nature. It’s quite the opposite do to anthropomorphic manipulation. People are more of a mystery. Dogs I know well.

Cities don't usually have these problems.

I live in a rural area now. I have live in large cities as well, but rural is where the danger is because dogs are allowed to roam free.

Nighttime is when it would be terrifying to be out without a gun. The dogs start gathering and running in packs and you can watch them, I've seen 20 dogs in a pack running down the road. You get caught out without a firearm and you probably are gonna be chewed to pieces.

I've just paid deposit on my new pup due for delivery into my world late Feb 2023. Miniature short coat Dachshund. Scary as fuck ROFL....

Sounds like maybe you just have a bad vibe that the dogs pick up on.

There's actually a lot of truth in that reply but I can't speak on mikexxx behalf. Dogs will smell your energy/hormones from several metres away.

If you're scared....they will know.
If you're alpha and not bothered....they will know.
If you're beta/submissive....they will know.

So they know you are beta/submissive. Good to know
