Creatine

Anybody has any scoop bout all those kinda creatine availiable now? Eg. monohydrate, anhydrous, di/tricreatine malate, citrulline malate etc.. and which type of creatine do you guys take?

still no consensus on this. Several studies show that creatine levels will be the same either way at the end of the month. However, we had this argument a couple of weeks ago and it has me leaning towards loading being better. I do still fill that before your w/o is best if the tummy can handle it

So whats the deal on how to take creatine now? Load or don't load in the case of monohydrate.

Six of one, half dozen of the other. If you stay on creatine all the time, then just use 5g/day for as long as youre on. If you cycle it, say one month at a time, then load it. Either way, once your body's creatine levels are maxed, then the rest goes to waste.

I have been on creatine nonstop since Jan 1998. LOL yes for 6 years straight.

When I first started I took 5 grams five times per day for 7 days as a load.

Now, I take 5 grams 1 hour before I workout and five grams immediately after my workout, along with an NLarge weight gain shake. Seems to do the trick for me.

Long term creatine

What a relief reading this thread. Cause i've been on creatine myself for at few years now but at small doses for a while. I usually take a scoop of betagain (2g creatine 1g hmb and 500mg glutamine) on workout days. If i could afford it I would go with dimaxx german creatine serum all the time. It works and is extremely safe. But at $50 a bottle its a little out of my budget right now. I've must of spent at least 300-400$ of it in the past. I'm going to stop taking creatine while I'm on my next cycle and then get back on to help preserve my gains. Creatine is the bomb.

Dumbell,

Have you noticed any difference from taking it both before and after a workout? Is 5 grams a typical teaspoon?

thanks!
K-

Creatine serums. liquids, etc are all crap. You are buying a junk product. Only buy a powdered product.

i prefer taking creatine after i work out ... only because when i tried it before my muscle stamina seemed to be alot higher so after working out, i felt like i could alot more and i was worried that could lead to overtraining ... well, atleast for me.

I dont remember the link but Bryan Haycock posted a study showing creatine uptake increased in muscles being used. What they did was only work out one leg. Than they measured creatine levels in both legs. The leg that got worked out absorbed more creatine. That is why it was recommended to take it pre workout. Your muscles are needing extra creatine so have enough available. 5g's is about a teaspoon I believe. Depending on your weight 5g's /day is plenty. If you feel you need to take 10 on w/o days. 5 b4 and 5 after. More details are on hsthsn.com but it will be hard to find b/c it was well over a year ago when it was posted. I reposted it on the old meso. I can't take creatine pre w/o b/c I have a pussy stomach I guess. The shit makes me sick as hell.

Have you suffered any GI side effects from your continuous usage? I used for roughly three straight years in almost the exact fashion you have--loading, then maintaining--and I came down with a nasty inflammatory stomach condition. I'm not one of these folks that sues the manufacturer when something goes wrong, and I don't even have conclusive proof that the creatine was responsible. Nevertheless, I'm curious to see how you feel and if you've suffered any negative effects from your usage. I would love to go back on but don't dare risk it, personally.

GG

Creatine is definetly effective, just use micronized.

I believe Creapure to be the best and priciest!

As far as loading goes the whole concept was based on the fact that your body has a very difficult time absorbing creatine, By loading it you allow for a more positive uptake.

Do you have to load?
No! But its more of a guarantee!

Oh yah 20 grams on work out days
and 10 grams on off days.

From everything I have read, 10 grams/day (5 grams pre and 5 grams postworkout), even on training days, is plenty. Personally I feel that 20g/day is overkill.

For the last 6 years I, along with several of my friends, have been using Optimum Nutrition Micronized Creatine powder. It is Creapure - the highest quality you can get. And you will not find a better price on the planet - 2000 Grams micronized Creapure powder for $34.02 at www.jesupgym.com --- best deal on the planet. I always take a heaping teaspoonful, dump it in my mouth, drink a huge amount of apple juice, swish the juice/creatine up in my mouth for about 30 seconds to dissolve the creatine, and swallow the mix.

A fairly common SEffect of creatine seems to be GI distress. A buddy of mine simply cannot use creatine as it caused significant GI cramps. The rest of my buddies have absolutely no problems with it. I myself have never had GI problems with creatine.

The only downside of creatine for me is on ab day. On ab day, if I have not drank a SHITLOAD of water preworkout, then on about my third set of crunches, my abdominal area goes into massive tetany. If any of you have ever exprienced tetany, particularly in the abdominal area..............let's just say that I would rather get assraped by Osama Bin laden then have to go through that. on MANY occasions, on ab days when I have not drank enough water, and on my third or fourth set of crunches - the pain from the abdominal tetany is so excrutiating I was reduced to tears - I have been reduced to tears MANY times on ab day.

My advice to you guys using creatine - drink a tremendous amount of water.

dumbbellpress No excuses, no regrets.

loading works well for me. 40g - more is better with creatine for me, definitely works better than 20g, then about 10g a day to maintain. I do alot of drop sets and volume though so perhaps this is why creatine is so effective for me given the short rests I use. I use it 6 weeks, 2 weeks off

Why would creatine be taken with juice? Is its for the insulin spike, don't think it'll work too well as juice sugar is sucrose.

I myself found that creatine taken every day after awhile began to upset my stomach and did nothing. I became "immune" to it.I only take it now 1 hour before I workout which is 3 days a week. I find it gives a nice pump, stamina this way. More than that it was no good in my case.
Everyone is different ofcourse. I dont cycle it just simply take it only 3 days out of 7 days and works well for me.
