Been working on this bullshit all day. 100+ year old stair case. Had to rip piss soaked shag carpet off it. Then had to sand it down and patch up the cracks. Finally after a couple coats of paint it's almost looking good again. Have to let it dry overnight then will give it one last touch-up before I stick the finish trim on.IMG_20210804_181752846.jpg

Paint or stain? I know you said paint..

That's different. Does it hold up well to the foot traffic?

?? I'm not a painter, but my GFs grandpa was for 50 years and this is what he recommended. Same stuff other flippers use that I've talked to. Seems to be kind of standard for stairs. Even was the only can I saw in the store that said for stairs. Lol.

Anyways, the oldest staircase I've painted is only 2.5 years old. Doesn't have any paint chips yet and the gloss paint doesn't really get stained with random smudges.

That's cool. I thought oil stain and 2 coats of poly was the standard

Did this deck yesterday. It was in pretty rough shape because it is pretty old and wasn't done right the first time. Then added onto and that wasn't done right either. Lol. But $200 later and a full day of work, it's actually halfway decent again. Only a couple small imperfections, but it's a rental so they can deal with it. Haha
